Ruby I. Barb, 95, Macomb, died at 9:55 a.m. Tuesday, June 25, 2002 at the Elms Nursing Home.
She was born Sept. 1, 1906, in Industry, the daughter of J. C.
and Loucettia (Pittman) Lucas. She married Manville Barb Nov. 27, 1926,
in Macomb. He died in 1962.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in
death by one son, Brian Barb; three brothers, Joseph, Lee and George
Lucas; three sisters, Ethel Garrison, Nina Daugherty and Mabel
Hainline; and one sister in infancy, Hazel.
Born and raised in McDonough County, she lived in East Orange,
N. J., before moving back to Macomb in 1971. She worked as a
salesperson for Woolworth for 23 years.
Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 27,
2002, at the Glade City Cemetery, Blandinsville, with the Rev. A. Lee
Unger officiating. Friends may call at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral
Home in Macomb from 9 a.m. until noon on Thursday, June 27. There will
be no family visitation.

Kenneth Barker
Kenneth Barker, 58, of Quincy, formerly of Mount Sterling, died at 8:04 p.m. Wednesday in Pike County.
He was born in Schuyler County on Oct. 20, 1929, the son of George R. and Nellie M. Harper Barker.
Mr. Barker was a member of the United Methodist Church in Quincy
and an active member of the Antique Car Club. He was past elder of
Mount Sterling Presbyterian Church Club and was a Sunday school
superintendent. He was employed by the city of Quincy at the sewage
treatment plant.
Surviving are three brothers, John R. of Mount Sterling, George
T. and Glenn R., both of Springfield; two nieces; and several cousins.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Mount Sterling Cemetery, with the Rev. David Kuker officiating.
Hufnagel Funeral Home, Mount Sterling, is in charge of arrangements.

Macomb - Roseanna "Rosie" Brown, 50, of 716 E. Washington died
at 8:09 a.m. Wednesday, March 31, 1993, at McDonough District Hospital.
Born Oct. 3, 1942, in Industry Township to Harold and Helen
Hollenback Brown, she married Robert McGaughey on Dec. 7, 1959, in
Macomb. He died in 1967. She later married Conrad Barrett on Nov. 1,
1968.
Surviving are her mother of Macomb; one grandmother, Janie
Hollenback of Macomb; three daughters, Cheri Kimbley and Glenda
McGaughey of Kingdom City, Mo., and Tammy Polston of Mexico, Mo.; one
son, Robert McGaughey of Jacksonville, Fla.; one brother, Donald Brown
of Henry; and eight grandchildren. Her father preceded her in death.
A member of the Illinois Nursing Association, she was a licensed
practical nurse at St. Luke's Christian Hospital in Beardstown.
She also was a licensed pratical nurse tutor at Spoon River College and was working of her registered nurse certificate.
Cremation has been accorded. Memorial services will be at 2 p.m.
Saturday at Clugston- Tibbitts Funeral Home. The Rev. Gerald Seabaugh
will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the
funeral home. Burial of ashes will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, to
McDonough District Hospital Hospice Program or to Rosie Brown
Scholarship for a nursing student at Spoon River College.

Virginia Conboy Barton
Virginia Conboy Barton, 99, of Macomb, passed away at 11:40 pm Monday Jan. 30, 2006 at the Elms Nursing Home.
She was born December 11, 1906 in Pittsfield, IL. to R.J. and
Charlotte Conboy, she married O.T. Barton on August 25 1928 in Pike
County. He preceded her in death on July 21, 1973.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother, R.J.
Conboy, Jr., one sister Mary Roberts, a son-in-law Loren K. Dittus, and
a grandson Mark Dittus.
Surviving are one daughter, JoAnne B. Dittus of Macomb, and a
granddaughter Ann Marie Dittus-Krone of Pleasant Plains, two sisters
Mardell Barton of Princeton and Pauline (and Bob) Roark of Bushnell.
Several nieces and nephews also survive.
Virginia moved to Macomb in 1936. She was a homemaker and
enjoyed gardening, quilting, and needlework. Her church affiliation was
Methodist.
Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Friday at Forest Lawn
Memory Gardens in Macomb. Pastor Michael Burdick will officiate.

Lucille Bates, 82, Dies Monday From Accident
Miss Lucille Bates, 82, of Rushville, died Monday afternoon at
the Culbertson Memorial hospital as a result of injuries received when
she was hit by a truck on Thursday about 7:30 p.m. in front of her
residience at 218 S. Congress.
Coroner Fred Green states that an inquest will be held the first
of the week. Assording to the coroner, Mrs. {Miss} Bates was
being driven home by a friend and when she got out of the car,
reportedly walked in front of the truck driven by Lyle Grafton.
Funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the
Worthington Funeral Home, the Rev. Gary Bass officiating. Burial was in
the Rushville City Cemetery. A memorial has been established for
the Culbertson Memorial hospital.
She was born March 18, 1898, in Schuyler county, the daughter of
John and Agnes Campbell Bates. She was a law secretary in Chicago
for 35 years, and was a member of the Rush-church {something missing
here}.
She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews, including James
N. Moore of rural Rushville. She was preceded in death by her
parents, four sisters and five brothers.

Beardstown - Lorna "Allene" Becker, 86, of Beardstown died Monday, July 28, 2003, at her home.
She was born July 7, 1917, in Browning, the daughter of James
Whitcomb and Vera Hollenback Reiley. She was preceded in death by her
husband, Milton O. Becker in 1969 and a daughter, Holly Swanson.
Mrs. Becker graduated from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles in
1934 and earned a degree as a licensed vocational nurse in Los Altos,
Calif. She was a charge nurse at a nursing home in California for 10
years. She later co-owned and operated Second Hand Rose in Beardstown.
Survivors: two daughters, Kathleen (husband, Allan) Allar of
Beardstown and Barbara Kidder Fox of Rochester, Ind.; a son, Hayes B.
Becker of Macomb; six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a
brother, Orrin Reiley of Buellton, Calif.; and two sisters, Metta
(husband, Harold "Bud") Landes of Beardstown and Jeanette Haig of
Magnolia.
Services: 11 a.m. Thursday, Sager Funeral Home, Beardstown. Burial: Browning Cemetery.

Beardstown - Lorna ''Allene'' Becker, 86, of Beardstown died Monday, July 28, 2003, at her residence.

Browning Cemetery in Browning.

Services were held last Thursday at Hufnagal Funeral Home in Mt.
Sterling for Eva M. Behymer, age 69, of rural Mt. Sterling.
She died on March 4 at the Beardstown hospital, Beardstown.
She was born in Brown county, Aug. 21, 1910, the daughter of
Frank and Bessie Pruden Dunmire. She attended the Brown county
schools. On May 23, 1928 in Brown county, she married Orville Behymer
who survives.
Survivors also include: Seven children - LeRoy Behymer of Mt.
Sterling, Edward Behymer of Macomb, Mrs. John (Gloria) Fry of Mt.
Sterling, Richard Behymer of DuPoint, Ind., Mrs. Terry (Carol)
Steinberg of Meredosia, Don Behymer of Rushville, Steve Behymer of Mt.
Sterling; four brothers - Roy Dunmire of Victoria, Texas, Genisee
Dunmire of Beardstown, Frank Dunmire of Lewistown, Charles Dunmire of
Moweaqua; one sister - Mrs. Charles (Mary ellen) Bridgewater of
Versailles. There are 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.

Zelma E. Bennett, 92, Colchester, died at 5:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 1, 2005, at The Elms Nursing Home, Macomb.
She was born June 2, 1912, in Schuyler County, the daughter of
John and Nellie (Whalen) Stephens. She married Vincent D. Bennett, July
8 1939, in Davenport, Iowa. He preceded her in death Dec. 21, 2004.
She is survived by two sons, Stephen (Anita) Bennett, Colchester
and James (Janis) Bennett, Ashland, Ky.; one daughter, Christine (John)
Schoeninger, Granger, Ind.; five grandsons; and seven
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, Alva Reynolds.
She received her bachelor’s degree in education from WIU in
1935. She worked as a secretary for the McDonough County Superintendent
of schools, taught school, worked in the placement office at WIU and
held various other clerical positions. She was a member of Colchester
United Methodist Church.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Jan. 6, 2005 at Jones’ Mortuary, Colchester with the Rev. David Bigley officiating.
Burial was at Mt. Auburn Cemetery, Colchester. Memorials may be made to The Elms Nursing Home, Macomb.

and Nora (Fowler) Wilson. She married Howard A. Berry June 13, 1936,
1936, in Rushville. He preceded her in death May 27, 1966.
She is survived by two sons, Gerald Berry, Spokane and Robert
Berry, Peoria; one daughter, Patty Green, California; eight
grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in
death by one daughter, Gretchen Geer; one son, Raymond; and six
brothers.
She was a member of Industry Methodist Church. She also enjoyed reading and crocheting.
Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. April 1, 2005, at
Bushnell cemetery with Pastor Terry Broady officiating. Burial will be
in Bushnell Cemetery.

Ray C. "Tiger" Black, 83, Colchester, died at 9:30 a.m. Sunday
Nov. 12, 2000, at the Morton Terrace Nursing Home in Morton.
He was born May 17, 1917, in Sciota to William Keller and Eliza
Ellen Helton Black. He married Margaret A. Lescallett on Nov. 19, 1944,
in Macomb; she survives.
Other survivors include: two sons, Allen Black, Monmouth, and
Gary (Therese) Black, New Lenox; one daughter, Jamie (Ralph) Stone,
Mackinaw; five grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and one sister,
Margaret DeCamp, Chenoa.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bert
Black; and four sisters, Myrtle Britton, Ava Flynn, Beulah Titus and
Lillie Larner.
Ray served in the National Guard from 1937-1940 and then in the
U.S. Navy from 1943-1945. He was a Golden Gloves boxing champion in
1936 and was a boxing instructor in the National Guard; he also boxed
in the Navy. He was active with the local youth boxing association for
several years. He was a charter member of the Illinois Sheriffs
Association, a life member of American Legion Post #6 and VFW Post
1921. He raced stock cars for nine years and was a volunteer at Macomb
Speedway for several years. He served as a Macomb Police Officer for a
short time and briefly worked for King Seeley in Macomb. He owned and
operated Black Transfer for 69 years. He attended the First Christian
Church of Macomb.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000,
at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, with Pastor Frederick Larner
officiating.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens; memorials may be
made to Emmet-Chalmers Fire Rescue Squad or Galesburg Youth Boxing.

F. Russell Blevins, 74, Macomb, died at 4:40 p.m. Thursday, July 11, 2002, at McDonough District Hospital.
He was born Jan. 20, 1928, in Macomb, the son of Wilburn L. and
Flossie L. (Bainter) Blevins. He married Barbara J. Foster June 4,
1950, in Macomb. She survives.
He is also survived by his mother, Macomb; two sons, Jon (Peggy)
Blevins, Bentonville, Ark., and Jeff (Melodee) Blevins, Springfield;
five grandchildren, Noelle Regan, Megan Driggs, Jordan Blevins, Katie
Blevins and Rory Blevins; one unborn great-grandson, Austin Ray
Blevins, whose birth will be in September; and one brother, Robert
(Sam) Blevins, Macomb.
He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Bonnie Myers.
He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He worked for the
Peter Pan Bakery and for the U.S. Postal Service from 1959-1988. He was
a member of the First Christian Church, Macomb. He was active in Boy
Scouts and YMCA Little League baseball. He and his wife spent their
winters in Florida after his retirement, and he enjoyed shuffleboard,
flowers, playing cards and woodworking.
Funeral services were held Monday, July 15, 2002, at the First
Christian Church, with his son, the Rev. Jeff Blevins, and the Rev.
Steve Workman officiating. Cremation rites were accorded.

Born Jan. 17, 1898, in Macomb to John and Mary Newell Graves,
she married Lennis W. Bliven on April 9, 1920, in Macomb. He died Jan.
6, 1974. One brother, four sisters and one grandson also preceded her
in death.
Surviving are three sons, John of Macomb, Charles of Fort Myers,
Fla., and David of Burlington, Iowa; six grandchildren; two
stepgrandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four
stepgreat-grandchildren.
She graduated from Western Illinois University. She taught
school in the Macomb area. She also worked at Kline's and Montgomery
Ward & Co. She was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church in
Macomb.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen
Funeral Home. The Rev. James Stovall will officiate. Visitation will
from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in
Oakwood Cemetery.

Born Nov. 14, 1904, in Camden to Dr. Fred and Carrie Deane
Hester, she married Roy Boehm on July 17, 1932, in Rushville. He
survives.
Also surviving are one son, William of Naperville; one sister,
Rena Hester of Rushville; and two grandchildren. She was preceded in
death by two brothers and five sisters.
She worked at the Rushville State Bank and later at the Schuyler
County Circuit Clerk's office before retiring in 1975. She was a member
of First Presbyterian Church.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home,
the Rev. Michael Fitch officiating. Visitation will be from 6 to 8
tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

Services for Stephanie "Stevie" Borders, 18, of Bushnell, were

Burial was in Bushnell Cemetery.
She had been missing since September. Her remains were found May
18, 2001, near Avon. Authorities are still investigating.
She was born Sept. 2, 1982, in Macomb to Daryl and Donna Dilts Borders.
Surviving are her parents of Bushnell; one son; one brother,
Vance Borders at home; and her grandfather, Bud Borders of Bushnell.
She was a member of Bushnell Baptist Church.

Berthol A. Bowman, 86, of Macomb, died at 3:03 p.m. Monday, Jan. 29, 2001, at his residence.
He was born Oct. 1, 1914, in Industry, the son of Ernest and
Effie Teel Bowman. He married Elsie Lisenbee May 23, 1934, in
Davenport, Iowa. She survives.
Also surving are two brothers, Gene Bowman, Mathis, Texas, and
Duane Bowman, Riverdale, Md. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He served in the Navy during World War II on a destroyer escort.
He was a salesman and serviceman for Arnold Brothers Heating
& Cooling in Macomb and later worked for Connor Co. Plumbing &
Heating Supplies in Macomb. He was an Eagle Scout, a member of American
Legion Post #6, Macomb Elks Lodge #1009 and Wesley United Methodist
Church.
Graveside services were held February 1, 2001, at Oakwood
Cemetery, with the Rev. Mark Myers officiating. Memorials may be made

Clara Lou Bridgewater, 69, Macomb, died at 1:45 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, 2002, at McDonough District Hospital.
She was born Dec. 19, 1932, in Macomb, the daughter of Ross and
Leah (Snapp) Icenogle. She married Cletus Bridgewater Aug. 29, 1953, in
Palmyra, Mo. He survives.
She is also survived by three sons, Clifford Bridgewater,
Shawnee, Kan., Louis Bridgewater, Spring Hill, Fla., and John
Bridgewater, Hemet, Calif.; two daughters, Sue Nixa, Galesburg, and Kim
Fox, Macomb; nine grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four
brothers, Ross, Leo, Charlie and Jack Icenogle, and two sisters, Ruth
Kulp and Merle Underwood.
She was a homemaker and an American Red Cross volunteer for 25
years. She was also an election ward judge. She was a member of the
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 14, 2002, at
Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, with Bishop Mark Callister
officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services. Burial
will be in Bardolph Cemetery.

Services for Carl Brooks, 88, were conducted Monday at

He was born Jan. 4, 1891, in Schuyler county, the son of
Alexander and Sarah Chockley Brooks. He married Jennie Gray on
Aug. 13, 1913. She died in November 1943. He was a member
of the White Oak Methodist church. He was employed at Voorhees
Funeral Home, in Rushville and later for the city of Rushville.
Surviving are one son, Harold of Rushville; two grandchildren;
two great grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Nina Bedwell of Industry; and
one brother, Jesse of Rushville.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Esther Grimes, five brothers and one sister.

She was born July 1, 1920, in McDonough County near Colchester,
the daughter of Robert and Clydie Short Arvin. She married Howard
Brooks, who preceded her in death in 1950.
She is survived by two nephews, Larry (Joyce) Burkholder,
Macomb, and Bennie (Alice) Arvin, Adair; five nieces, Mary Ellen
(Richard) Hainline, Macomb, Wanda (Carmen) Shirrell, Macomb, Ginger
(Jack) Abernathy, Macomb, Joyce (Roger) Clampett, Newark, and Joan
(Dale) Ford, Blandinsville; and several greatnieces and greatnephews.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers and three sisters.
She lived her early life in the Marietta and Adair area before
moving to Macomb in the early 1950s. She was an active and longtime
member of the First Baptist Church, Macomb.
Funeral services were held Monday April 15, 2002, at
Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral Home, Macomb. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery,
Macomb.

9:35 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 12, 1992, at Culbertson Long Term Care

Born June 9, 1904, in Monmouth to Edward and Carrie Beeney
Burns, he married Edith Darrah on Sept. 30, 1929, in Rock Island. She
survives.
Also surviving are one son, William Barton of Rushville; one
daughter, Mrs. Cecil (Beverly) Herche of Jacksonville; three
grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. One brother and one infant
brother preceded him in death.
He was a farmer in his early years. He then was a manager for
Brown Lynch Scott retail stores in Kewanee, Monmouth and Rushville from
1930 to 1954. He served as Schuyler County treasurer for two terms. He
was also Schuyler County supervisor of assessments from 1970 to 1978.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Worthington Funeral Home. The
Rev. Jerry Watkins will officiate. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today
at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

She is survived by her father, Ross Gibson, Macomb; a son,
Michael Cadle, Macomb; and a daughter, Karen Cadle, Jackson, Miss.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Lucille Gibson.
She was a graduate of Macomb Senior High School and St. Joseph
School of Nursing, in Bloomington. She served in several nursing
capacities in the Macomb area, including emergency room surgical nurse
at McDonough District Hospital and health facilities surveillance nurse
for the State of Illinois. She was an avid flyer and supporter of
aviation activities. She was a founding member and officer of the
International Flying Nurses Association and a committee member for the
Macomb Airport Authority Air Show-Fly In.

Olympic Committee or theWestern Illinois University Athletic

taught Sunday school for 30 years. She also was an associate member of
Clifton Presbyterian Church in Ohio.

Browning Chapter #262 Order of Eastern Star.
She is survived by: one daughter; Carolyne Griffiths and her
husband Bill of rural Carthage; one son; Lloyd J. Carnes and his wife
Maryann, Springfield; one brother; Heber Jackson, Winslow, Ariz.; 8
grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a
sister, Imogene Green.

She was born Sept. 9, 1938, in Albuquerque, N. M., the daughter
of Frank Clermont and Merdyth C. Knapp. She married Walter Joseph
Flakus in Chicago, Aug. 8, 1961. He survives. She later married Kenneth
"K. C." Chenoweth in Macomb, July 8, 1981. He preceded her in death May
30, 1992.
She is survived by one son, Walter Frank (Laura) Flakus,
Germantown, Md.; two grandchildren, Collin and Sabina, Germantown, Md.;
two stepdaughters, Terra (Randy) Litchfield and Lori (Greg) John, both
of Macomb; and their families; one brother, Frank Knapp, Newport, R.
I., his wife, children and grandchildren; one sister, Laura McAver,
Irving, Tex.; her first husband, children and grandchildren.
She was raised in Crystal Lake, received a Bachelor of Arts in
teaching from North Eastern Teacher’s College and acquired specialized
teaching courses at WIU. She was a dedicated elementary teacher in
Industry for 22 years, from August 1972 through June 1994. She would
spend her own money on supplies and go well beyond the call-of-duty for
her profession. She never flunked a student; rather, she took the extra
time and effort that was needed to help them pass. Her concern for the
welfare of many children forever touches their lives and their families.
Cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service will be
held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2005, at the Clugston-Tibbitts Funeral
Home with the Rev. Ron Green officiating.

Martin-Hollis Funeral Home, Bushnell. Visitation will be held at the
funeral home from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday Oct. 18, 2005. Friends may call
after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Burial will be in Bushnell Cemetery.

She was born on Dec. 30, 1972 in Rushville the daughter of Lee
and Charolette Mable (Brocksieck) Beadles. She married Patrick J.
Commins on March 8, 1997 in Versailles.
She is survived by her parents, Lee and Charolette Beadles,
Huntsville; one son, Jonathan Commins at home; one sister, Judy (Brad)
Scanlan, Carthage; three brothers, Bill Beadles, Ankeny, Iowa, Jim
(Rita) Beadles, Huntsville and Paul (Sheryl) Beadles, Quincy. Also
numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her maternal
and paternal grandparents.
She was a homemaker and part time employee of the Camden Post
Office. She was a 1992 graduate of Southeastern High School in Augusta
and attended Gem City College in Quincy. She was a active member of the
First Baptist Church of Versailles.
Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Dec. 13, 2002
in the Hamilton Funeral Home in Augusta by the Rev. Greg Hill. Burial

Elmwood, Mrs. Richard (Carlene) Shoopman of Mount Sterling, and Rose
Spears of Beardstown; 12 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
She was a member of Explorers Bible Study Group in Beardstown; Schuyler County Genealogical Society; and Home Extension.

Miss Christine M. Crook, 90, of Macomb, died at 1:45 a.m.
Thursday, Nov. 18, 1999, in Wesley Village Healthcare Center of Macomb.
She was born May 17, 1909, in Schuyler County, the daughter of Charles and Mary Frances (Dennis) Crook.
Survivors include cousins Fred Dace and Mrs. Helen Smith., both of Peoria, and Mrs. Eleanor Dennis of Quincy.
She was graduated from Rushville High School and from Western
Illinois University, receiving a bachelor’s degree and a master’s
degrees in education.
She taught at Walker, Dixie, Brooklyn, White Frame, Rushville
Elementary, Morton Elementary, Bushnell Elementary and Colchester
Elementary schools.
She also taught art classes at WIU, taught summer school in
Tappan, N.Y., and did additional work at Bradley University, University
of Colorado at Fort Collins, Illinois State University at Normal and
Pedalozzi Froebel University.
She taught for 47 years.
She was a member of Business & Professional Women's Club;
local, state and national Teachers Associations; Daughters of Union
Veterans of the Civil War; American Association of University Women and
the Methodist Church.
Services were Saturday in Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home with the Rev. David Pease officiating.
Burial was in Rushville City Cemetery.

Keith Crum, 52, rural Meredosia, died Friday afternoon, July 8, 2005, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 6, 1952, in Avon, the son of Leroy and Evelyn
(Root) Crum. He married Terrie Jones Sept. 23, 1978, in Meredosia. She
survives.
He is also survived by one brother, Alan (Linda) Crum, Waynesville; one niece; two grandnieces and one grandnephew.
He graduated from Bushnell-Prairie City High School and Illinois
College. He taught in the Meredosia-Chambersburg School system for many
years, where he coached varsity boy’s basketball and the junior high
girl’s basketball teams. He worked for Burrus Seed Farm, during the
summer, supervising the youth laborers. He was a member of the Free
Methodist Church, Rushville.
He was president of Mississippi Valley Morgan Horse Club and a
member of American Morgan Horse Association and Illinois Horse and Pony
Breeder's and Exhibitors Association. He was a past member of Brunk
Morgan Museum Board.
He managed several horse shows and was instrumental in the
Mississippi Valley Morgan Horse Club spring sale. He had a particular
passion for showing in hand and driving horses in horse shows.
A celebration of Keith's life was held Wednesday, July 13, 2005, at 110 N. East St. in Jacksonville.

Center, Macomb, formerly of New Philadelphia, died at 9 p.m. Saturday,
Sept. 7, 1991, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
She was born March 3, 1914, in Bluff City to Exie and Jennie Shaw Curless.
She is survived by one sister, Lola Sperry of rural Macomb. She was preceded in death by seven brothers and sisters.
A graduate of the St. Francis School of Nursing in Macomb, she
was a World War II veteran serving as a cadet nurse. She later worked
at Hines Veterans Hospital in Hines from 1946 until retiring in 1974.
She was a member of Macomb Assembly of God Church and the Daughters of
Union Veterans.
Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at Martin-Hollis Funeral
Home in Bushnell, the Rev. Jon Keck officiating. Calling hours will
begin at 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Good Hope
Cemetery.

great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother, one grandson and one stepgrandson.
She worked at St. Francis Hospital, McDonough District Hospital and Western Illinois University, all in Macomb.
She was a member of First Christian Church in Macomb.

Rushville. He passed away on July 11, 1991.

She is survived by one daughter, Jean Rockhold, Macomb; two
grandchildren, Dale (Maureen) Rockhold, Macomb, and Debbie (Tim)

Hattaway, and Brian, Jarrod and Megan Rockhold, all of Macomb.
Garnett lived in Detroit prior to moving to Macomb in 1946. She
was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Macomb. She was a
homemaker all her life.

he married Melba Hopping on Feb. 12, 1956, in Industry. She survives.

Colchester; three granddaughters; and two stepgrandchildren. His father
and one brother preceded him in death.
He was a welder for many years. He was a former member of Macomb
Masonic Lodge. He served on the Bardolph High School Board and Bardolph
Village Board.

Surviving are one daughter, Carolyn Murfin of Colchester; eight
grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and 20 great-great-grandchildren.
She and her husband farmed in Schuyler, Brown and McDonough
counties before moving to Bardolph in 1943. She worked as a cook for
St. Francis Hospital and McGraw Edison, both in Macomb, and also took
care of the elderly in their homes.
She was a member of Jerusalem Methodist Church and Bardolph United Methodist Women.

stepgrandchildren; and one sister, Betty Kirgan of Pekin. He was
preceded in death by an infant brother.
He was a former employee of the Corps of Engineers and the city
of Peoria. He last was employed as a land surveyor with Associated
Engineers for 22 years, retiring in 1979. He was a member of St. Mark
Catholic Church, St. Mark Parish Association, Peoria Versailles and the
Schuyler County Historical Society. He was a World War II Coast Guard
veteran.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at his church. The Rev.
Robert Schladen will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight
at Davison-Fulton Woodland Chapel, with a Scripture service at 7:30.
Visitation also will be 30 minutes before services at the church.
Entombment will be in Resurrection Mausoleum in Peoria.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
He lived in Bushnell all his life and was an over the road truck
driver for Vaughan and Bushnell Manufacturing Company in Bushnell.

Nov. 10, 1951. He survives.
She is also survived by three daughters, Toni Lynn DePoy,
Macomb, Carole (Richard) Wagher, Galesburg, and Patsy (Kenneth) Kreps,
Bourbonnais; five grandchildren, Joseph (Kelly) Barsi, Jerry Barsi, Ted
and Curt Wagher, and Briana (John) Gasparovich; and five
great-grandchildren, Sarah, Samuel and Kyle Barsi, and Zanna and Hunter
Gasparovich.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Howard
Miller; and two sisters, Lucille Webster and Georgia Frazier.
She owned and operated DePoy Income Tax Services from 1969-1985,
and she owned several rental properties in Macomb. She attended
Covenant Presbyterian Church and was a member of the VFW Ladies
Auxiliary and the BPO Deers.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, March 25,
2003, at Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Kerry
Frantz officiating. Visitation was scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Monday, Feb.
24, 2003.

She was born Jan. 22, 1911, in Macomb, the daughter of Zeb and
Rose (Compton) Stoneking. She married Lester "Pete" Derry Nov. 9, 1929,
in Macomb. He preceded her in death March 2, 1974.
She is survived by one daughter, Lynne (Charles) Bourell, Orion;
one granddaughter, Mindy (Brian) Arlt; and two great-grandchildren,
Amanda and Elizabeth Arlt.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
She was raised by Morris and Louise Stoneking Willey on Gin
Ridge in rural McDonough County. She worked at the former Globe
American, Macomb; the former St. Francis Hospital; and retired from Beu
Health Center at Western Illinois University. She was a member of the
Faith United Methodist Church and the Rebekah Lodge, and loved to
collect dolls and antique dishes. She was also a member of the Macomb
Doll Club.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at the
Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home, with the Rev. Stephen King
officiating. Burial was in the Oakwood Cemetery.
Obituary of Almeda Rogers Littleton Derry

Almeda Rogers was born in Augusta, Maine, in the year A.D.,
1840. Emigrated with her parents to Wisconsin and later to Illinois,
settling near Ipava and has lived practically all her life in Fulton
county.
She was married May 10, 1857 to Aaron Littleton, three children
being born to this union, McKendree, deceased, Minnie and Rachael, of
Canton. Mr. Littleton died in the year 1863. Later, Mrs. Littleton
again married, her second marriage occurring on January 1, 1870 to
Edmond C. Derry. To this union was born seven children namely, Mariah
Brockley, who died February 7, 1884; Mrs. Mary Ferris of Oklahoma,
Uriah, of Canton, James T., of Astoria, Mrs. Emma Hopping, who died May
24, 1911; Mrs. Della Parks, of Rushville, Bernard N., of Summum.
Mrs. Derry died at her home near Union Chapel, March 3, 1914
aged 73 years, 2 months and 20 days. She was converted in early life,
joined the Christian church and later, with her husband, united with
the Methodist church at Union Chapel, and remained a true and devoted
Christian until death.
Funeral services were held at the Union Chapel church Thursday,
conducted by Rev. W. C. Harbert. Interment in the Union Chapel cemetery.
Note: Almeda was the daughter of Eli and Mary Manser Rogers and
was born in Troy, ME 13 Dec 1843. She lived in Brown County, IL with
her mother after her father died. Her mother remarried 22 February 1851
to James Bedwell of Ipava, IL. submitted by Marilee Griffin
Obituary of Edmund (Edward) Derry

Aged Citizen Dead
Edward Derry was born in the state of Ohio, June 11, 1841, came
with his parents to Illinois when two years of age. He died at his home
near Union Chapel, Fulton county, Nov. 10, 1908 aged 76 years, 5 months
and 9 days.
He was converted to Christ and joined the Methodist Episcopal
Church at Union Chapel when he was 25 years of age and remained a true
and devoted member until death.
Mr. Derry enlisted in the Union army during the late Civil War in 1862 and was mustered out in the spring of 1865.
He was married to Mrs. Elmeda Littleton, Jan. 1, 1867. By this
marriage he became the stepfather of McKendrie, Minnie and Rachel
Littleton. Seven children were born to him and his beloved wife, namely
Maria Brockley who died Feb. 7, 1884, Mrs. Fred Ferris, Mrs. Emma
Hopping, Mrs. Della Parks, Uriah, James and Newton are the surviving
children.
The wife still survives. She and the children have the sympathy of their many friends during the hours of bereavement.
The funeral was held at Union chapel, Sunday afternoon at 2:00.
Rev. G. H. Smith, the pastor of the family, conducted the funeral and
Rev. O. M. Wilson, of the Astoria M. E. Church, preached the funeral
sermon. Interment took place in the Union Chapel cemetery. The funeral
was one of the largest ever held in the community.
Note: The actual name was Edmund not Edward. He was the son of
Solomon and Maria (Derry) Derry. His wife's name was Almeda Rogers
Littleton.

Virgil Dale Derry, 83, Macomb, died at 4:06 p.m. Saturday, March 23, 2002, at Heartland Health Care Center.
He was born June 27, 1918, in Macomb, the son of Will and Bessie
Church Derry. He married Josephine Clark April 12, 1927, in
Rushville. She survives.
He is also survived by one son, Thomas Derry, Toluca; one
daughter, Karen Thompson, Tampa, Fla.; 13 grandchildren; and several
great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two
sons, William and Robert Derry, and two brothers, Russell and Sanford
Derry.
He served in the Army during World War II. He was the business
manager for Labor Local 911 for 33 years. He was a member of the Macomb
VFW Post 1921 and Pekin Labor Local 231.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, March 27, 2002, at
Dodsworth-Piper-Wallen Funeral Home. Burial was at Forest Lawn Memory
Gardens, with military rites by VFW Post 1921 and American Legion Post
