Death of Silas Bruce Vaughn
Rushville Times, April 18, 1912
Death of S. B. Vaughn
  S. B. Vaughn, one of the old time residents of Bainbridge, died at his home on Saturday, following an illness of several weeks. On Monday at 11 a.m. funeral services were conducted by Rev. Fred Wilson, pastor of the Christian church, and the interment was in the Rushville cemetery. The following sketch of his life was read at the funeral:
Silas Bruce Vaughn was born in Culpepper county, Virginia, April 13, 1838, and died April 13, 1912, aged exactly seventy-four years.
He was of an old Virginia family, which emigrated to Kentucky in the early forties and at the age of sixteen years came with his parents to this county, and two years later began living on the farm which ever since has been his home.
When he had lived in this county thirteen years he was married to Mary Ann Orr, and they took up their abode on the same farm where he spent the greater part of his life, having lived there since 1856.
To this union was born four children, two having died in infancy, leaving Iona and Ida with the widowed mother to mourn the loss of a devoted father and husband, also three granddaughters; Gladys, Louisa and Annetta Vaughn, also one sister, Mrs. J. Broadhead of McDonough county.
As a neighbor Mr. Vaughn was always ready to lend a helping hand and do all he could for the betterment of mankind. For the past seven years he has been in failing health, but kept up his work on the farm until about two weeks ago, when he was compelled to give up the work and never felt he would be able to walk about the farm again. By his death we loose a loving father, a devoted husband, a kind neighbor and a man of exemplary character.

Obituary of Martha Ann/Anna Mathews Teel
died: August 07, 1899
Rushville Times
Martha A. Teel was born in Wilmington, New Castle county, Del., Nov. 5, 1811.  In 1812 her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Mathews crossed the Allegheny mountains on horseback and settled in Pittsburgh, Pa.  In 1820 they removed to Frankford, Pa. and from there went to Ohio.  On June 1, 1829 Miss Mathews was married to Henry P. Teel.  Three years afterward they removed to Illinois and located in this city.  The trip was made via the Ohio, Mississippi and Illinois rivers and Mr. and Mrs. Teel and their two small children landed at the town of Erie, which was located in this county between Frederick and Beardstown.
In 1835 Mr. Teel removed to the territory of Iowa and settled near Ft. Madison.  That section of the country was then thickly populated with Indians under the leadership of Black Hawk and Keokuk.  They were frequent visitors at the Teel home, as the spirit of strife with the white man, which in a few years led to their extermination, was then at a low ebb.  Mrs. Teel's brother, Wm. Mathews, a tailor by trade, assisted by his sister, made broadcloth coat worn by Chief Keokuk when he went on his famous peace mission to Washington.
In 1832 Mrs. Teel joined the Presbyterian church at Florence, Pa. and remained a faithful member to the end of her life.
After returning to Rushville from Iowa Mr. Teel erected a cabin on the lots just east of Washington School building and resided there until 1845, when he purchased a quarter section of land in Section 16, Rushville township, which belonged to his wife at the time of her death.  Here she lived until last winter when her house was destroyed by fire and she came to Rushville, where she has since made her home with her son, Hon.
