  FREDERICK - Eleanor Dodds, 85, of Rural Route 1, died at 6:45 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 21, 1999, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.
  Born June 9, 1913, in Song Do, Korea, to J. Arthur and Anna Riehl Thompson, she married Giles Dodds on May 6, 1939, in Rushville. He died Sept. 1, 1966. One daughter, Rosemary McFalls, one son, Phillip, one grandson, one great-granddaughter, two brothers and one sister also preceded her in death.
  Surviving are four sons, Warren and Glenn, both of Frederick, and James of Adair and John of Rushville; one daughter, Joy Root of Rushville; one brother, Erwin Thompson of Godfrey; 13 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
  She attended Western Illinois State Teacher's College in Macomb. She taught in rural Schuyler County public schools before her marriage and then was a substitute teacher.
  She was a member of Sugar Grove United Methodist Church and the United Methodist Women.
  Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Gillette Cemetery near Frederick. David Heney will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at Worthington Funeral Home, Rushville.

  FREDERICK - Harold E. Dodds, 87, of Rural Route 1 died at 9:45 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 30, 1997, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home in Rushville.
  Born April 12, 1910, in Frederick Township, Schuyler County, to Oren E. and Margaret Bellomy Dodds, he married Opal Ruth Summers on March 3, 1946, in Los Angeles. She survives.
  Also surviving is one nephew, Tommy Dodds of Rushville. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
  He was World War II veteran, serving with the Navy Seabees. He was farmer and also restored and showed antique cars.
  He was a member of the former Pleasant View United Methodist Church.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. The Rev. Scott Henley will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.
  Memorials may be made to Culbertson Memorial Hospital coronary care unit in Rushville.

  Mary Ellen Dodds, 65, of Mesa, AZ, formerly of Rushville, passed away at 9:55 a.m. Friday May 11, 2007 at Banner Hospice in Mesa.
  She was born on Thursday, October 2, 1941 at Frederick, IL.  She was the daughter of Lester Giles & Theora Grace "Jackie" Steele Campbell.
  She is survived by her father of Kentwood, LA; (2) sons, Robert Lee Dodds & Richard Allen Dodds & wife Maureen all of Mesa, AZ; (3) grandchildren, Daisy Pearl Dodds, Tuesday Patricia Dodds & Sunshine Aurora Dodds; (2) sisters, Virginia Kay Allen of Kentwood, LA & Carol Ann Muncy of Altus, OK.  She was preceded in death by her mother.
  She was a sales woman for Hi-Health in Mesa, AZ and was a member of the Mesa Christian Church.
  Funeral services will be held at 9:00 a.m. Friday May 18, 2007 at the Worthington Funeral Home with Rev. Mary Arnold officiating.  Burial will be in the Good Hope Cemetery.  Visitation will be  from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to Banner Hospice 7231 E.   FREDERICK - Virginia Bernice Donaldson, 73, of Frederick died at 5:38 p.m. Wednesday, March 2, 1994, at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.
  Born July 1, 1920, in Schuyler County to Charles and Bernice Schramm Mitchell, she married Leslie Donaldson on July 31, 1940, in Monticello, Mo. He survives.
  Also surviving are one son, Denny of Marion; one sister, Verla Ott of Canton; four half sisters, Joanne Fargus of Chicago, Patty Tracey of the state of New York, Carol Neeka of Bolingbrook and Ann Heath of Greenfield, Wis.; three half brothers, Billy Tracey of Daytona Beach, Fla., Dick Mitchell of St. Louis and David Mitchell of Wisconsin; and two granddaughters. One brother and one grandson preceded her in death.
  She owned and operated the Snack Shack in Rushville for nine years and the Dari-Bar for four years. She was a Tupperware representative for 10 years.
  She was a member of the Rushville Business and Professional Women, Republican Women's Club and the Order of Eastern Star Chapter 694. Services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel in Rushville. The Rev. Wayne Bonser will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at the chapel. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

  BEARDSTOWN - Clarence E. Dotzert, 85, of rural Beardstown died Friday, Dec. 4, 1998, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
  Born Jan. 25, 1913, in Bluff Springs Township, Cass County, to Frank and Elizabeth Frank Dotzert, he married Mary Virgin on June 15, 1940, in New London, Mo. She survives.
  Also surviving are four sons, Jerry, David, Michael and Douglas, all of Beardstown; one brother, Kenneth of Kickapoo; six sisters, Marie Shilling Frost of Peoria, Hazel Vincent, Hilda Tucker, Ida Tucker and Viola Dyche, all of Beardstown, and Catherine Snooks of Gosport, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
  Two sisters and three brothers preceded him in death.
  He and his wife farmed in Cass County for 50 years.
  He was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Bluff Springs.
  Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Sager Funeral Home. The Rev. Elise Rothfusz will officiate. Friends may call after 4 p.m. Monday at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 5 to 8 p.m. Burial will be in Beardstown City Cemetery.

  Berniece W. Dowler, 86, of Springfield died Monday at St. John's Hospital.
  She was born Sept. 26, 1908, in Versailles, the daughter of Carson and Nora Walker Baker. She married Harold Reische; he died in 1939. She married Harry Dowler; he died in 1990.
  Mrs. Dowler retired from Spencer Corset Co. after 60 years of service. She was a member of West Side Christian Church, U and I Sunday School Class and Charlie's Angels.
  Survivors: a daughter, Mrs. Jack (Mary Jane) Reische Meisner of Springfield; a grandson; two great-grandsons.
  Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Bisch and Son Funeral Home, with the Rev. Vaughn Beeman officiating. Graveside service: Noon Wednesday, Versailles West Side Cemetery.

  Harry L. Dowler, 84, of Springfield died at 11 p.m. Thursday at St. John's Hospital.
  He was born July 21, 1906, in Beardstown, the son of William and Elizabeth Neil Dowler. He married Alta Skiles in 1926, and she preceded him in death. He then married Berniece Reische in 1963. Also preceding him in death were one son, James; one brother; two sisters; and one stepgrandson.
  Mr. Dowler was a member of West Side Christian Church and a member of U and I Sunday school class.
  Surviving are his wife, Berniece; one stepdaughter, Mary Jane Meisner of Springfield; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one brother, John Dowler of Chicago; and two sisters, Florence Marten of Florida and Lucille Hopkins of California.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Bisch Memorial Home, with the Rev.
  Vaughn Beeman officiating. Burial will be in Oak Ridge Cemetery.

  Born Nov. 28, 1903, in Schuyler County to Homer and Edith Johnson Beam, she married Marvin R. Downs on March 15, 1924, in Rushville. He died Dec. 24, 1994. One brother, one sister and two great-grandchildren also preceded her in death.
  Surviving are two sons, Homer O. of Rushville and Marvin R. of Rockford; three daughters, Mrs. Russell Shelts of Camden, Mrs. Arvis (Julia "Betty") Foster of Peoria and Mrs. Vernon (Erma June) Downs of Crescent City; one sister, Julia M. Gilson of Galesburg; 19 grandchildren; 46 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
  She attended Western Illinois Teacher's College. She taught at Center School in Bainbridge Township.

  Born Nov. 27, 1898, in Bainbridge Township, Schuyler County, to Oliver and Elizabeth Hatfield Downs, he married Alice Kupel in October 1917. She died in August 1921. He married Beulah M. Chipman on June 4, 1925. She died July 24, 1990. He also was preceded in death by one son, Harlan, two daughters, Laura Virginia Gieker and Esther Mae Downs, four brothers and five sisters.
  Surviving are four sons, Dwayne and Merlin, both of Rushville, Richard of Jacksonville, and Gary of Ames, Iowa; two daughters, Marjorie Downs Byers of Columbia, Md., and Maggie Downs Burnside of Rushville; 18 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and one brother, Marvin of Rushville.

  Born Jan. 23, 1920, in Huntsville to Rolla and Minnie Ryan Hightower, she married Harold E. Downs on Dec. 16, 1941, in Palmyra, Mo. He died Oct. 23, 1982. Four brothers and two sisters also preceded her in death.

  Born Aug. 18, 1937, in Macomb to Clinton and Maxine Ambrosius Eckroy, she married Dwayne Downs on June 22, 1953, in Schuyler County. He survives.
  Also surviving are two sons, Jeff and Mitch, both of Rushville; one daughter, Marsha Wells of San Diego, Calif.; two granddaughters; two sisters, Sherry Leverton and Luan Bryant, both of Rushville; and one brother, Bill Eckroy of Rushville. She was preceded in death by two infant brothers and two infant sisters.
  She was a certified nurse assistant at Culbertson Memorial Hospital for 38 1/2 years.
  She was a member of the Culbertson Hospital Auxiliary and Schuyler American Legion Post 4 Auxiliary.
  Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Worthington Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Kirkham will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lawler Cemetery in Bainbridge Township.

  Richard Downs, 75, of Jacksonville, formerly of Rushville, died Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2001, at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.
  He was born Sept. 10, 1926, in Beardstown, the son of the late Clifford and Beulah (Chipman) Downs.
  A World War II Army veteran, he worked for the Farmers Service in Tremont and was a custodian at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
  Surviving are his wife, Mary, of Franklin; two sons, Charles (wife, Mary) Downs of Normal, and David (wife, Cindy) Downs of Rushville; two daughters, Mary Alice (husband, Robert) Rexroat of Rushville and Diana (husband, Marty) Fairchild of Rochester; four grandchildren; three brothers Dwayne Downs, Merlin (wife, Becky) Downs, all of Rushville, and Gary (wife, Norma) Downs of Ames, Iowa; two sisters, Marjorie Downs Byers of Columbia, Md., and Maggie Downs (husband, Jim) Burnside of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews.
  He was preceded in death by one brother, John Harlan Downs, and two sisters, Virginia Gieker and Esther Downs.
  Graveside services were Saturday at the Lawler Cemetery south of Rushville with Rev. Rob Kirkham officiating.  There will be no visitation.  Memorials may be given to the Prairie Village Health Care Center in Jacksonville.

  RUSHVILLE - Ora Abbott Doyle, 90, of Rushville died at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, 1993, at Snyder's Vaughn-Haven Nursing Home.
  Born April 20, 1903, near Rushville to Ephraim and Lutecia Moore Abbott, she married Alonzo Doyle on July 13, 1963, in Lincoln. He died in January 1970. Four brothers, 10 sisters, one half brother and three half sisters also preceded her in death.
  Surviving are one stepson, Bill of Birmingham, Ala.; one stepdaughter, Betty; and several nieces and nephews.
  She graduated from Western Illinois University in Macomb and attended Greenville College.
  She was a schoolteacher in Schuyler and Montgomery counties. She pastored in the Free Methodist church in Valley City and Clinton. She was a cook and supervisor at the State Farm in Lincoln.
  She was a member of Free Methodist Church in Rushville and the Women's Ministries International.
  Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at her church. The Revs. J. Robert Kirkham and Sue Trickey will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at Wood-Roby Funeral Chapel. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

  RUSHVILLE - Arlys R. Drawve, 70, of 8 Parkview Drive died at 7:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, 1996, at her home.
  Born May 15, 1925, in Washington, Iowa, to Harold John and Harriett Faulkner Myers, she married Lyle Drawve on Dec. 30, 1945, in Burlington, Iowa. He survives.
  Also surviving are one son, Kent of Rushville; one daughter, Mrs. Kenny (Diane) Ward of rural Huntsville; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. One sister and one brother preceded her in death.
  She retired in 1989 as a bookkeeper. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Rushville and Schuyler American Legion Auxiliary Post 4.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville. The Rev. Jerry Watkins will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

  BEARDSTOWN - Henry "Hank" Meyer Drawve, 74, of 114 E. 11th St. died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at his home.
  Born June 1, 1924, in Rushville to Clifford S. and Mildred Lebkuecher Drawve, he married Imogene Brannan on Jan. 23, 1945, in Amarillo, Texas. She survives.
  Also surviving are two sons, Gary of Springfield and C. Mark of Lerna; one daughter, Mary Ann Lehmkuhl of Beardstown; and eight grandchildren.
  He attended the University of Maryland. He was in the military for 13 years, serving as a first lieutenant in the Army Air Forces as a pilot in World War II. He served in the Army Reserves and as a captain in the Army in the Korean War. He was a member of the Schuyler County American Legion. He received two bronze stars.

Calling hours will be after 3 p.m. today at Sager Funeral Home, with the family present from 5 to 8 p.m. today. A rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Burial of cremains will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Beardstown City Cemetery, where military rites will be accorded.

  BEARDSTOWN - Henry "Hank" Meyer Drawve, 74, of Beardstown died Tuesday, April 6, 1999, at his residence.
  He was born June 1, 1924, in Rushville, the son of Clifford S. and Mildred Lebkuecher Drawve. He married Imogene Brannan in 1945 in Amarillo, Texas.
  Mr. Drawve was a lifelong farmer in Schuyler County. He was a 1942 graduate of Rushville High School and attended the Univeristy of Maryland. He served in the military for 13 years, having served in the U.S. Army Air Corps in World War II, and the U.S. Army Reserve in the Korean War and receiving two bronze stars. He was a member of St. Alexius Catholic Church and BPO Elks 1007, both in Beardstown, Sigma Chi fraternity, Knights of Columbus, Schuyler County American Legion and served on the Cass County Board for several years.
  Survivors: wife, Imogene; two sons, Gary R. (wife, Pam D.) Drawve of Springfield and C. Mark (wife, Carol E.) Drawve of Lerna; a daughter, Mary Ann Lehmkuhl of Beardstown; eight grandchildren; and two aunts.

One infant daughter preceded her in death.
  She graduated from Western Illinois State Teachers College in Macomb. A schoolteacher, she was a member of Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers Association.
  She was a member of Buckhorn United Methodist Church and Cooperstown Christian Church.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Hufnagel Funeral Home in Mount Sterling. The Rev. Tom Ross will officiate. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the family meeting friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Additional visitation will be two hours before services at the funeral home.   He was born on Friday, July 4, 1947 in Palo Alto, CA.  He was the son of Roy Eddington and Mary Elizabeth Carter. He married Betty Mae Hefley May 14, 1969 in Beardstown, IL.  She passed away April 22, 1980.
  Surviving are (2) sons, Larry Paul Eddington, Jr. of Guymon, OK, Chris Eddington of Huntsville; (2) daughters, Vickie Gerber of Billings, MT, Kimberly Sue Eddington of Beardstown; (14) grandchildren; (2) sisters, Virginia Dunbar of Ridge, MD and Linda Porter of Hampton, VA.
   He graduated from Rushville High School in 1966 and served in the US Army from November 10, 1966 to November 1, 1968, serving in Vietnam.  Larry worked for the Burlington Northern Railroad Santa Fe Railroad, retiring in November of 2002 due to ill health.

  Versailles, Illinois: Marshall Earl Edlin, age 88, of Versailles, Illinois passed away at 1:50 p.m. Monday, June 18, 2007 at the Heritage Manor Nursing Home in Mt. Sterling.
  He was born March 8, 1919 in Bluff City, Illinois the son of Orville and Maizie Dutton Edlin. He married Frances Bradbury on May 21, 1938 in Palmyra, Missouri and she survives.
  Mr. Edlin was a lifetime fisherman that dearly loved the river and had also worked for Illinois Valley Paving Company in Bluffs, Illinois for several years.
  Earl was a lifelong member of the La Grange Chapel. He taught fishnet making at the Meredosia Historical Society. Earl’s greatest joy was spending time with his family, duck hunting in the lake, working in his garden and playing his harmonica for anyone that passed by.
  Survivors include his wife Frances Edlin of Versailles, Illinois. 4 children Buddy Edlin and his wife Joyce of Mt. Sterling, Butch Edlin and his wife Marianne of Rushville, Bobby Edlin and his wife Darlene of Versailles and Shirley Bean and her husband Mike of Versailles. 12 grandchildren, 3 step grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 6 step great grandchildren and 1 great great grandson also survives along with 1 brother Everett Edlin and his wife Risca of Petersburg, Virginia and a sister-in-law Evelyn Edlin of Kentucky.
  He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 daughter Janet Thomas and 1 brother Harold Edlin.
  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 at the Hendricker Funeral Home in Mt. Sterling with Rev. Matt Haberman officiating.
  Burial will be in the Cooperstown Cemetery in Brown County.

  Born March 3, 1925, in Macomb to Oscar Romeo and Eunice Poole Kepler, she married Maurice Fred Edwards on Feb. 23, 1952, in Rushville. He died Sept. 28, 1985.
  She also was preceded in death by one grandson and one brother.
  Surviving are one son, David of Rushville; two daughters, Sarah (and Randall) Fuqua of Rushville and Susan (and Kurt) Fiedler of Peoria; five granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter.
  In her early years, she worked in the secretarial pool for the state of Illinois in Springfield. She later worked for Moreland & Devitt Drug Store for many years before retiring. She then was a secretary for First Presbyterian Church.
  She was a co-founder and officer at the time of her death of Pandora's Playhouse, where she had served in many capacities, including performing, directing and publicity.
  She served on the Schuyler Arts Council and the Illinois Arts Council. She was the author of "How to Get Your Husband to do the Housework and Other Things." She was second runner-up in the 1895 Ms. Senior Illinois pageant.
  She was a former member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4 Auxiliary.
  A lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church in Rushville, she was an elder, a deacon and was serving as clerk of the session at the time of her death. She also was a past president of the Presbyterian Women.
  Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at her church, where visitation will be one hour before. The Rev. Sue Coller and David Haney will officiate. Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Worthington Funeral Home. Cremation will be accorded, and burial of ashes will be in Rushville City Cemetery.

  She was born June 23, 1910, at Rushville, to James and Lillie Wilson Menely.
  She married William G. Edwards, Jan. 5, 1927, in Schuyler County.  He preceded her in death on July 31, 1976.
  She is survived by one son, James H. Edwards, of Rushville; three grandsons; and eight great-grandchildren.

  Mrs. Elas was a homemaker and was secretary for Elas Quarries in Rushville. She was a member of St. Rose Catholic Church, Rushville, and its Altar and Rosary Society. She volunteered for numerous charities and civic organizations and was a former member of the Rushville Business and Professional Women and the Schuyler Home Extension.
  Survivors: husband, John; a daughter, Katherine "Kay" Mattson of Rushville; three grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Anna Elas of Viola.

  A World War II Navy veteran, he managed Boydston Lumber Co. in Rushville, retiring in 1975. He was a member of Schuyler American Legion Post 4 and was a Mason. He served as director on the Schuyler County Fair Board.

  Also surviving are three sons, David (and Colleen), Terry (and Liana) and Josey (and Mandi), all of Chicago; two brothers, Daniel (and Peggy) of Collinsville and Dennis of Carpentersville; two sisters, Nancy (and Kent) Thomas and Sharon Dodd, both of Vermont; and two grandchildren.
  He was preceded in death by one infant brother.
  He was a Vietnam War Navy veteran, and a member of the Vermont American Legion.
  He graduated from City Colleges of Chicago.
  He was a patrolman for the city of Chicago for 28 years, retiring in 2000. He then was chief of police in Vermont.
  He was a member of Fraternal Order of Police and Rushville Moose Lodge 708.
  Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Wood Funeral Home in Rushville. The Rev. Richard Pricco will officiate.   She was born on October 1, 1951 in Astoria, Illinois the daughter of the late Whitney and Norma (Siler) Davis.  She married John David Elliott on August 23, 1969 at the Astoria United Methodist Church in Astoria.  He preceded her in death on March 10, 2005.
  Jill worked as a patrol officer for the City of Chicago, for 20 years, retiring in 2003.  She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Police # 7, Women of the Moose in Rushville and attended the Vermont United Methodist Church.  She enjoyed crafts and yardwork.
  Surviving are three sons David T. Elliott and wife Colleen of Chicago, Terry A. Elliott and wife Liana of Chicago Ridge, and Joseph R. Elliott and fiancée Mandi of Littleton, four grandchildren Ian Elliott, Morgan Elliott, Jonathon Elliott and Ryan Elliott and a step granddaughter Alyssa Petrishe, three brothers Mike Davis and wife Peg and Richard Davis and wife Jody all of Astoria, and John Davis and wife Donna of South Carolina, and several nieces and nephews.

  Surviving are one daughter, Sharon Pierce of Lincoln; two sons, William of Astoria and Michael of Havana; one brother, Roger Briney of Browning; and six grandchildren.
  She was a member of Sheldon Grove Methodist Church and a former member of Order of Eastern Star.

  The Rev. Dr. Marshall H. Ervin, 85, of Culbertson Gardens, Rushville, died Saturday, Dec. 1, 2001, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
  He was born April 8, 1916, to the late Marshall L. and Ethel Beach Ervin in Cape Girardeau, Mo.  He married Robbie V. Williams on March 22, 1936, in Corning, Ark.
  She survives, along with three sons, Marshall L. (wife Jeanne) of Macomb, Jim W. (wife Jeanne) of Rushville, and Dennis G. (wife Deborah) of Omaha, Neb.; one daughter, Mrs. Patricia A. Boyd (husbund Dick) of Littleton; nine grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
  Two sisters and two brothers preceded him in death.
  Dr. Ervin was an ordained clergyman of the United Methodist Church and served as Decatur District Superintendent for six years.
  He served the following United Methodist churches in the Illinois Conference: Divernon, Glenarm, Farmersville, Rushville First Church, East Peoria First Church, and Rock Island First Church.  He served as executive director of Wesley Towers Retirement Center in Mattoon for five years.  He retired from active ministry in 1982.
  Ervin received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Asbury College, a bachelor of divinity, and master of religious education degree from Garrett Evangelical Seminary in Evanston.  He was awarded a doctor of divinity degree by MacMurray College in Jacksonville, and was named Pastor Emeritus by the First United Methodist Church of Rushville.
  In retirement, Dr. Ervin organized the development department of Culbertson Memorial Hospital where he served as director of development for 10 years.  He was instrumental in raising funds to build the Dohner Medical Arts Center in Rushville.  He was named the Paul Harris Fellow and was awarded the Service Above Self Award by the Rushville Rotary Club.  He also was chosen to serve as parade marshall for Rushville's Smiles Day.
  At the age of 80, Dr. Ervin became an author, publishing three books after retiring from Culbertson Hospital.
  Funeral services were held Tuesday at the First United Methodist Church in Rushville with Rev. Scott Henley officiating.  Burial was in the Rushville City Cemetery.  The Worthington Funeral Home in Rushville was in charge of services.

  Born Aug. 30, 1908, in Woodstock Township, Schuyler County, to Clarence and Carrie Newell Illman, she married Truman Estes on May 1, 1929, in Astoria. He died Feb. 4, 1993. One brother and one sister also preceded her in death.
  Surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Russell (Mary Frances) Cunningham of Rushville, Joan Rice of Jacksonville, Mrs. Eldon (Irene) Vaughn of Camden and Mrs. Larry (Betty) Paisley of Hurdland, Mo.; 19 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; and one stepgreat-grandchild.
  A 1956 graduate of Western Illinois University, she taught school in Schuyler County for 31 years, retiring in 1973. She was a member of Rushville Free Methodist Church and the Schuyler-Brown Retired Teachers Association.
  Services will be at 1:30 p.m. Monday at her church. The Revs. Wayne Bonser and Robert Kirkham will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Worthington Funeral Home.

  ASTORIA - Don E. Etter, 82, of Astoria died at 7:15 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, 1993, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb.
  Born Oct. 22, 1910, in Canton to Harvey and Edith Ruth Falkenstein Etter, he married Ruby Chapman on May 16, 1935, in Oregon, Ill. She survives.
  Also surviving are four daughters, Mrs. Bernard (Joanne) Heath of Adair, Mrs. Neal (Jeanne) Hartman, Mrs. Gene (Judy) Grafton and Mrs. Bill (Joyce) Palmer, all of Rushville; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two stepgreat-grandchildren; and one sister, Maxine Flaherty of Astoria. He was preceded in death by two brothers.
  He was an Illinois state trooper for 10 years, until 1951. He was a pit boss for the Peabody Coal Co. from 1951 to 1963 in Illinois and Indiana. From 1977 until 1992 he was supervisor of Astoria Township.
  He was a member of Astoria Masonic Lodge 100, AF&AM, and Astoria United Methodist Church.
  Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Shawgo Memorial Home in Astoria. The Rev. Terry Westerfield will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 tonight at the memorial home, with Masonic services at 8 p.m. Burial will be in Astoria Cemetery.

  Surviving are two sons, William "Bill" and Richard "Dick," and two daughters, Mrs. Wilbur (Pat) Leverton and Mrs. Carl (Peggy) Settles, all of Rushville; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; two brothers, Eugene of Fairborn, Ohio, and Jacob Jr. of Belleville; and one sister, Grace Schisler of Ipava.
  He farmed in Schuyler County, retiring in 1991. During World War II he worked at International Harvester in Canton.
  He was a member of Schuyler County Farm Bureau.

  He was born on Sunday, October 24, 1926 in Webster, Iowa.  He was the son of the late Ralph and Annie Settles Ewing.  He married Aileen King June 15, 1946 at the First United Methodist Church in Rushville.
  She survives along with (2) sons, Steve Ewing & wife Patty of Rushville, Greg Ewing & wife Debbie of Colchester; (4) grandchildren, Scott Ewing, Shelly Demaree & husband Mike, Mike Ewing, Ginelle Ewing; (3) step grandchildren, Matt, Blake and Kirk Denney; (4) great grandchildren, Adam & Kyle Demaree, Austin & Ashtyn Ewing; a sister, Margaret King of Rushville.  He was preceded in death by (3) sisters, Jane Black, Mildred Walters & Mary Engelhardt; (3) brothers, Glen, Don & Bill Ewing.
  He served in the US Merchant Marines during WWII.  Jim farmed in his early years and worked for Bartlow Brothers Meat Packing 35 years, retiring as Sales Manager.  He was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Rushville.  He served as an Alderman on the Rushville City Council and was a member of the Schuyler School Board for many years.  He also was a founding member of the Rushville Little League and worked the yard markers at Rushville High School Football games many years.  He was a life long Chicago Cubs & Bears fan and loved following Schuyler Co. sports, attending hundreds of events as long as his health permitted.
  Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 19, 2007 at the Worthington Funeral Home with Reverends Mary and Paul Arnold officiating.  Interment will be in the Rushville City Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.  Memorials may be given to Rushville Little League, 1st United Methodist Church, or the Schuyler Co.   She graduated from Rushville High School.  She taught school a few years near Rushville.  Then, she worked at the Rushville Telephone office for several years.
  She married Calvin Fano, who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Elmer, Loren, and Roy; and two sisters, Lena Green and Edith Anderson.
  Survivors include two sons, James and Martin; one daughter, Joan; a sister-in-law, Erma Schieferdecker; and a nephew, Don (wife Anna Marie) Schieferdecker of Rushville; and several nieces and nephews.
  Cremation was accorded and a memorial service will be held later in Ohio.

  She was a Bank One Junior Student of the Week, in the top 10 percent of her junior class, active in track and field, a cheerleader, a founding member of Lanphier High School Spirit Club, a John Hopkins Math Student, student government representative, a member of the Chemistry, Art, French and Jets (Junior Engineering Technical Society) clubs, a member of the Speech Team, and a nominee for the National Honor Society. She was a co-leader for the Girl Scouts of America Troop 142 and volunteered at Braveheart.
  Survivors: father and stepmother, Joseph D. Feiden and Cynthia J. Murphy-Feiden of Petersburg; mother, Carol S. Lasley of Springfield; grandparents, Donna M. Feiden of Springfield, and Rosemary and Russell Phelps of Pleasant Plains; great-grandmother, Myrtle Phelps of Beardstown; a brother, Neal C.   He is survived by his mother, Maxine Long, Blandinsville; stepmother, Lola Ferguson , Burlington, Iowa.; sons, James Ferguson Jr. and his wife Peg, Logansport, Ind. and Timothy Ferguson, Macomb; daughters, Kimla Tyson and her husband Mark, Rushville, Julia Blair and her husband Keith, Plainfield, and Suzanne Ferguson, Macomb; nine grandchildren, Samantha and Cassie Ferguson, Sara Rose and Nicholas Tyson, Tyler and Ashley and Caleb Ferguson, and Adam and Nathan Blair; sisters, Judy Oliver, Janet Johnson and Jean Mershon, LaHarpe; and brother, Larry Long of Blandinsville.
  He is preceded in death by his father, stepfather, one sister and half-brother.
  He received his education in LaHarpe, and has been a Roseville resident since 1966. He was a high school athlete and continued his interest in sports throughout his lifetime. He had worked at Eagle’s in Galesburg, Jerry’s Big Value in Roseville, Carol Jean’s in Abingdon, and Meek’s Grocery in Roseville.
  A dedicated and strong Christian, he was a member of the Roseville Christian Church.
  Funeral services were held Sunday, Feb. 20, in the Roseville Christian Church with senior minister Robert Brunk officiating. Interment was in Roseville Memorial Park Cemetery.
  Cherilyn Thomas was pianist and George and Sandy Campbell were vocalists. Corman Memorial Home, Roseville, was in charge of arrangements. Pallbearers were: Larry Johnson, Terry Mershon, Brad Johnson, Greg Jensen, Kevin Johnson, Harry Bycroft, Gerald Huston and David Huston. Leon Monical and Allen Dehority were honorary pallbearers.

Ervin Filer, 79, of RR #3 Box 29 Horseshoe Bend Lane Rushville, IL died August 2, 2005 at 4:45 p.m. at the Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville, IL.
  He was born June 8, 1926 in Vandalia, IL to Lester B. Filer and Amelia Straub. He married Nina L. Forsythe on October 21, 1967 in Springfield, IL and she survives.
  He has one son, Grant L. Filer of CO., one niece, one nephew, and one grandson. He was preceeded in death by his parents and one sister.
  He served in the Navy during WWII and later worked as a supervisor of Land Reclamation of Surface Mining for the US. Department of Interior. He was also a graduate of U of I.
  Services were held on August 6, 2005 at 11:30 a.m. at the Rushville Cemetery.

  RUSHVILLE - Ervin Filer, 79, of Rushville died Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2005, at Culbertson Memorial Hospital in Rushville.
  He was born June 8, 1926, in Vandalia, the son of Lester B. and Amelia Straub Filer. He married Nina L. Forsythe in 1967 in Springfield.
  Mr. Filer graduated from the University of Illinois. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was a supervisor of land reclamation of surface mining for the U.S. Department of Interior Office.
  Survivors: wife, Nina; son, Grant L. Filer of Colorado; a grandson; and a niece and nephew.

  BALLWIN, Mo. - Marlene Hodges Findahl, 74, of Ballwin, formerly of Rushville, died Monday, June 12, 2006, at St. Luke's Hospital in Chesterfield, Mo.
  She was born Sept. 18, 1931, in Schuyler County, the daughter of Dwight and Nina Settles Hodges. She married Earl G. Findahl in 1957 in Macomb. A son, Kirk Findahl, preceded her in death.
  Mrs. Findahl graduated from Rushville High School in 1949. She was a legal secretary for Ernest G. Utter and worked for the Wisconsin state treasurer's office in Madison. She and her husband co-owned Fleishel Lumber Co. in St. Louis.
  Survivors: husband, Earl; three stepdaughters, Marilyn Wolf of Oakland, Calif., and Becky Findahl and Sharon Redington, both of Galesburg; three stepgrandchildren; two step-great-grandsons; two sisters, Beth (husband, Jim) Redfern of Galesburg and Susan (husband, Tom) Acker of Rushville; two nephews; and a niece.

  MACOMB - Annetta G. (Aten) Fisher, age 96, of Macomb, formerly of Ipava, passed away at 11 a.m. Sunday, May 6, 2007, at Heartland Health Care Center in Macomb, Ill.
  She was born on July 30, 1910, in Astoria, Ill., a daughter of William B. and Etta M. (Gain) Parker. Annetta married Merlin Aten in 1928. She later married Anthony Fisher on Feb. 4, 1950. He preceded her in death on March 23, 1953.
  She was also preceded in death by one son, Robert Aten; one grandson, Rodney Dwayne Aten; and two brothers, Paul and Wilbur Parker.
  Annetta is survived by three sons, Richard (and Janet) Aten of Highland, Rodney (and Rosemary) Aten of Ipava, Ill., and John (and Alta) Aten of Beardstown, Ill.; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
  Annetta was an item inventory manager for the U.S. Air Force.
  She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lewistown, Ill., and the Sonshine Club of Astoria.
  Visitation for Annetta will be held today, May 8, 2007, from 7 to 8 p.m. at Shawgo Memorial Home in Ipava, Ill. Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 9, at 10:30 a.m. in the Astoria Cemetery. Monsignor Richard Pricco will officiate.

  BEARDSTOWN - Louise Fisher, 71, of Beardstown died Sunday, July 30, 2000, at the home of her son, David, in Beardstown.
  Born Aug. 14, 1928, in Rushville to Harold Nathaniel and Martha Augusta Rohn Rebman, she married Ernest H. Fisher on July 6, 1949, in Rushville. He died Feb. 14, 1996.
  She also was preceded in death by one son, Larry, and one grandson.
  Surviving are three sons, Thomas (and Gaye) and David (and Linda), both of Beardstown, and Kenneth (and Renee) of Mount Sterling; three daughters, Penny (and David) Schnepper of Jacksonville, Diane (and George) Wheelock of Springfield and Cathy Stiles of Mount Sterling; two brothers, Louis (and Joyce) Rebman of Camden and Bill (and Beverly) Rebman of Beardstown; two sisters, Edna Jean (and Loran) Osborne and Mary Jane Merrey, both of Beardstown; 19 grandchildren; and 12 greatgrandchildren.
  She attended Evanston Collegiate College in Evanston.
  She had been a secretary at Trinity Industries in Beardstown for seven years. She later worked for the Illinois Department of Public Aid in Cass County for 14 years, retiring in January 1992.
  She was a member of First Southern Baptist Church in Beardstown, where she served as organist. She also played the piano at Heritage Manor East and Heritage Manor South.
  Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sager Funeral Home in Beardstown. Friends may call after 3 p.m. today at the funeral home, where family will receive friends from 5 to 7 tonight. Burial will be in Beardstown City Cemetery.
