County, Illinois Obituary from The Shelbyville Daily Union, August 31, 1896, page one, column five. Surprised on her 69th Birthday Mrs. Susan Bowman was yesterday the victim of a happy surprise planned and carried out by neighbors and friends to the number of about a score, the occasion being the good lady's 69th birthday. The party moved on the premises and took possession of the home and along about the noon hour the dining table fairly groaned under its immense load of the richest and most palatable viands. following the disposal of dinner the time was spent until a late hour in a general good time. Those present and participating in the good time were B. R. and Mrs. Field, J. M. Miller and family, Jos. Cross and family, Dr. and Mrs. Hassler, Mrs. and Miss Kensil, Mr. Engel and family, Mrs. Adams, Mrs. Klein and daughter and Miss Saddie Dutton. |
