Party for Katie McIntee's 21st Birthday
The Bradford Republican, Thursday, June 25, 1885
Last Saturday was a happy day for Miss Katie McIntee, as on that evening a party of about thirty of Bradford's most popular young people assembled at her rooms and gave her a surprise in honor of her twenty-first birthday. Mrs. L. A. Young, the popular landlady of the Bradford Hotel, was the originator of the idea, and through her instrumentality it was a success and the surprise complete. The party assembled at the hotel and at about 9 o'clock, marched in a bod to the rooms of Miss McIntee. On behalf of the company, Mr. Jason M. Newton, in a neat little speech, presented Katie with a beautiful hanging lamp, a mirror and other articles, as tokens of their good will and esteem. She returned thanks in a grateful and heartfelt manner, which showed that the gifts were fully appreciated as well as the good will of the donors. Games and refreshments were then indulged in until a late hour, when the company began to disperse, each and all wishing Katie many such pleasant birthdays as that of the 20th inst.
