Meyers Store - Photo contributed by Karen Hutmacher
This 1890 photo shows the John Meyers General Store & Post office in Florence Station. There was a dance hall on the second floor. Besides being storekeeper and post master, Mr Meyers was a grain dealer and operated a small distillery.
The signs on the building to the right say "The Cough Cure Jaynes Expectorant" also "Lenox Soap" and "Chew Horse Shoe Plug Tobacco"
You can almost read the words Post Office over the door in the small building - but only vaguely

W.F. "Bill" Otto Store about 1922 - Photo contributed by Karen Hutmacher
Later Bill owned and operated the Triangle Grocery Store in Freeport for many years.
There's a sign in one window promoting Ringling Bros. Circus coming to Freeport August 17
