Charles F. and Louise (Kaiser) Brandt

CHARLES F. BRANDT, 72, passed away...this morning at his home 219 East Empire street, following an illness of two years. Mr. Brandt suffered a stroke some two years ago from which he never fully recovered. He was born in Freeport, Dec. 2, 1859, and spent his entire lifetime in this county. November 3 [Nov 2, 1887], he was united in marriage to Miss Louisa Kaiser. He is survived by his widow, three children, Roy of Minneapolis, Lester of Lancaster township and Mrs. Henry Miller of Ridott. Miss [Mrs.] Lizzie LaGrand, a sister, Mrs. [Mr.] John Schrader, a half-brother, both of Freeport, also survive, together with five grandchildren. Mr. Brandt was a member of St. John’s Evangelical church....Funeral arrangements have not been announced. Freeport Journal-Standard, Tues. 5 Jan 1932, p14 c2) Funeral services for the late C. F. Brandt will be conducted from the late home....Thursday afternoon and from St. John’s Evangelical church. Rev. Edwin A. Arends will conduct the services and interment will be made in the city cemetery.

LOUISE (KAISER) BRANDT 75, widow of the late Charles F. Brandt, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Henry Miller, in Ridott...this morning following an illness of several months. Mrs. Brandt resided at 219 East Empire street. Louise Kaiser was born in Stephenson county, Oct. 24, 1865 and had resided in this community her entire life. She was united in marriage to Charles F. Brandt, Nov. 2, 1888 [1887], her husband preceding her in death in 1932. Three children, Roy, of Minneapolis, Minn.; Lester of Orangeville; and Mrs. Miller of Ridott, survive as does one brother, Henry Kaiser, of Freeport. Five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren also survive. Funeral arrangements have not been completed.

Funeral services for Mrs. Louise Brandt will be held at 1:30 o’clock Wednesday afternoon in the Walker mortuary and at 2 o’clock in St. John’s Evangelical and Reformed church. Rev. Edwin A. Arends, D. D. will officiate and burial will be made in City cemetery.
