The marriage of Miss Edith Jane Linneman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Linneman, 908 South Walnut avenue, and Raymond Arjes, only son of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Arjes of Baileyville, was solemnized Saturday evening at 8 o'clock in the Main Street Evangelical United Brethren church. Rev. L. B. Honderich officiated at the double-ring ceremony. The altar was lighted with candles held in four seven-branch candelabra and was decorated with gladioli and ferns. Pews, reserved for the families, were marked with huckleberry, tied with satin bows. Mrs. Robert Bast gave a fifteen minute program of organ music and accompanied Al Ulrich, who sang three solos. The Misses Delores Linneman, sister of the brice and Louise Bocker, cousin of the groom, dressed in similar pink gowns and wearing matching halos in their hair, lighted the candles before the entrance of the bridal party.
The bride in a gown of white marquisette over taffeta, entered the church with her father. Her gown was designed with a basque bodice, sheer yoke with high neck, bordered with lace-edged ruffle and a hoop skirt with high triangles of lace and a ruffle edged with lace that formed the train. The bridal veil was held in place with a tiara of seed pearls. She carried an arm bouquet of red roses and gardenia. Her rhinestone necklace was the groom's wedding gift. The maid of honor was Miss Gladys Mae Linneman who wore a lavender marquisette gown over taffeta, shoulder-length veil held by a halo of pink carnations. Her bouquet was pink and white carnations, tied with ribbons matching her gown. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Louis Mennenga, sister of the groom and Miss Harriet Brechters. They wore pink and blue gowns of Marquisette and satin, respectively, carried colonial bouquets of pink and yellow carnations and wore matching halos in their hair. Willard Runte was best man and Clarence Linneman, brother of the bride, and Lester Zumdahl ushered. Little Carol Hageman was flower girl. She was dressed in a blue taffeta frock and carried a white basket of rose petals. A reception for two hundred relatives and friends followed the ceremony in the parlors of the church which were decorated in pink and white. A five-tiered wedding cake, topped with figurines, centered the bridal table and was cut and served by Mrs. Alvin Manus. Mrs. Gladys Bicker served the punch and Mrs. Lester Ludwig poured. The ice cream was served by Mrs. Harold Meinen. Others assisting were: Misses Gertrude Meyer, Lucille Ruthe and Mesdames Herman Rose, Simon Richter, Cora Howe and Harry Mathiot. Mr. and Mrs. Arjes left on a two weeks wedding trip to Yellowstone park and the Black Hills. They will reside on West AMerican street on their return. The bride is employed at the Burgess Battery company and the groom, at the HOuse of Lindberg. Guests from Baileyville, Forreston, Polo, Lanark, Shannon, Pearl City and Rockford attended the wedding.
