MILLIKEN, Mary -
Dakota IL: Aug 11, 1938: At the worship service in Dakota Methodist church last Sunday, Miss Bessie Weiler, treasurer of the church read a letter from Margarett C. Milliken, of Chicago, announcing the gift of $500 to the church from the estate of Mary Milliken, deceased ssiter of the writer. The letter contained a check for teh above amount with no stipulation as to how the money was to be used. The anouncement came as a complete surprise to the congregation and no plans have been formulated as to how it will be used. Probabilities are that it will be used for redecorating the interior of the church. Each year, just before Mothers day the Milliken sisters have sent a contribution to the treasurer for the budget in memory of their mother who was at one time a member of te Dakota church.
