Jesse had two brothers and a Half brother
move to Pekin area with him in about 1854 and brought their wives
which Jesse's brother David had married Mary Jane's sister Sarah Ann Boring.

The Blacks are of German descent, they were protestant-Lutheran, and left
their homes in Germany on account of religious persecutions by the
Catholics,
about the year 1679. The first of the family to come to this country was
Jacob. On the voyage his wife and two children died and were buried at sea.
Jacob Black settled in Philadelphia, PA, he was again married. (taken from

David moved to Tazewell Co, IL in the
early 1850s with brothers Jesse, Henry and half brother Abraham Champion.
The 4 brothers were important in the building of the first church building
of the Green Valley Methodist Church.
Timbers and sills were hewn from Black Walnut trees in the Mackinaw River
bottom.
These timbers and sills were brought to the building site by David Black.
The brothers were farmers on land north and west of Green Valley.
David died at the home of his daughter Dora Black Perrill in Norton, KS and
is buried there.
