Hawley Cemetery
Cincinnati Township, Sec 30, Tazewell
County, Illinois
Located off South 14 Street up on a hill which is covered
in brambles, trees and shrub.
It cannot be seen from the road any longer.
Starting from Koch and South 14th St., (on the South edge of Pekin, IL) travel South on 14th St. for 2 1/2 miles.

There are several farm buildings on
the property. |

your left there will be this old wooden fence. Walk 40-50 yards... |

to this bend in the fence.

Like so many cemeteries, it has been vandalized. |

There is only 5 or 6 burials in this cemetery as far as we
can tell. Only 2
stones are standing. (There is one stone with only the name Gideon Hawley on it so we do not know if it is a 3rd Gideon Hawley or if it is a 2nd stone for one of the other Gideon Hawley's)

Darlene Ireland looked up the Hawley's on the
the internet and found the following: Norman married Mary E. Martin on April 1, 1866.
Besides their son George A., they had at least 4 other children
according to the 1880 census. Norman died Aug. 13, 1918 in Jacksonville
Hospital, Jacksonville, IL. Darlene found that there were several Martins living in Sugar Creek, Logan County, Illinois. |
