The Tazewell County Poor Farm Cemetery is located near what use to be the Poor Farm. 
The poor farm was the only facility available for the terminally ill, handicapped and catastrophic disease care.
When the Poor Farm was no longer necessary, the county turned the building into a children's home and after that it was a nursing home. That building has now been replaced with several different county buildings.

The cemetery is located about half mile behind the County property off Rt. 9 near Tremont, IL.
There is no road, you must travel over farm land winding your way along a large ditch.
If you visit the cemetery, you will need a 4 wheel drive vehicle.
Please time your visit to the planting season; so that you will not cause damage to the farmer's crops.
It's back in the corn field a good distance but is well cared for.
