Notes: I purchased this certificate through the Ellis Island Foundation. It is the record of my grandmother's arrival to America from Italy. It has 1 error on it, it says she was married when she arrived here which is not correct. She was 16 years old and single but her future husband was already chosen for her and he, Giacomo Piro, was already living in America. They were married September 1, 1894 in Memphis, TN. After Cosima & Giacomo were married, they lived in St. Joseph, Mo., Macon, GA. and Champaign, IL., having a child in each city, before moving on to Pekin, IL. where they operated a fruit and grocery business and lived out the remainder of their lives. They are buried in the St. Joseph Cemetery in Pekin, IL.BACK- Tazewell County, IL Genealogy Trails
