Donald "Joe" Aggertt
Donald "Joe" Aggertt, 51, of San Jose died at 4:10 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, 1999, at the University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. Born July 24, 1947, in Springfield to Aruthur Donald and Rose Evelyn Ludwig Aggertt, he married Joyce Ann Rients on June 22, 1969, in Flanagan.She survives.
Also surviving are three daughters, one of Grayville; one of Urbana and one of Cape Girardeau, MO; one brother, Ronald of Ashland; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, and one daughter, Julie Aggertt, on February 11, 1973.He received a bachelor's degree in vocational agriculture from the Illinois State University in 1969 and a master's degree in agriculture from the University of Illinois in 1973. He became a certified crop adviser in 1996. He taught vocational agriculture and was the Future Farmers of America adviser at Delavan High School from 1969 to 1977. He then farmed in the San Jose area since 1977.
He was the Illinois Jaycees Outstanding Young Farmer of 1983. He was past president of Illinois Leaders in Agriculture. He was a graduate of the Illinois AG Leadership Program. He was a former director of Illinois Soybean Checkoff Board and the Logan County Soil and Water Conservation Board. He was past president of the Sangamon Valley Farm Business Farm Management in Springfield and was a board member of the F.B.F.M. State Association. He was a member of Delavan Rotary, San Jose Park Board, Logan County Farm Bureau, Illinois Corn Growers and Illinois Soybean Association. He was a Prairie Creek Township Trustee. He also was a member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Emden, where he was a former Sunday School teacher and a member of the church council, Brotherhood and Pete's Pairs.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday at his church. The Rev. Darby Lawrence officiated. Burial was in Green Hill Cemetery.Fricke-Calvert-Schrader Funeral in Lincoln had charge of arrangements. Ellen "Becky" Allen, 77, of 2703 Shay Road, Green Valley died at 10:56 a.m. Friday, July 9, 1999, at her home. Born December 12, 1921, in Deer Creek to Robert E. and Gertrude Cunningham Chaffer,she married Miles Allen on December 22, 1946, in Goodfield.
Surviving are two sons, one of Green Valley and one of Corydon, Iowa; one daughter, XXX Calhoun of Bainbridge Island, Wahsington; one brother, Paul Chaffer of Eureka; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by one son, Eugene, and one brother. She farmed with her husband in the Green Valley area for many years. She was a member of Delavan Presbyterian Church and a former 4-H leader in Green Valley.
Services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at her church. The Rev. Robert Paddack officiated.
Burial was in Prairie Rest Cemetery in Delavan. Davis Mortuary in Hopedale had charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to her church organ fund.Submitted by: Debbie Champion

Cindy Artman
Pekin - Cindy Lou Artman, 44, of 359 Caroline St. died at 3:43 p.m. Sunday, June 23, 2002, in the emergency room at Pekin Hospital.
She was born July 12, 1957, in Pekin to Darrell Eugene and Peggy Lou Seelye Artman.Surviving are her mother, Peggy Null of Pekin; her father and stepmother, Darrell and Robin Artman of Pekin; one brother, Bennie
Artman of Pekin; one sister, Sherri Artman of Pekin; one half sister, Valerie (and Shawn) Geiman of Manito; and Patrick Powell, with whom she
made her home.She was preceded in death by her stepfather, William Null, and one brother.
She had been a caregiver for Community Care Systems in Morton for several years.
She was a member of the National Humane Society.Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, where visitation will be one hour before.
The Rev. Jim DeBruyne will officiate. Cremation will be accorded after the services.
Memorials may be made to the Tazewell Animal Protective Society (TAPS).
