Leroy Birdsell
   Leroy James Birdsell, 77, of 2303 Broadway, Pekin, formerly of San Jose, died at 3 a.m. Friday, January 15, 1999, at OSF Saint Francis
Medical Center in Peoria.
   Born January 22, 1921, in Chicago to Ernest and Hazel Gullett Birdsell, he married Mary Rollins on September 9, 1939, in Chicago. She survives.
   Also surviving are three sons, Robert and William, both of Pekin, and Michael of Delavan; three daughters, Barbara Maxwell of Jacksonville,
and Judith Anderson and Bonita Swan, both of Pekin; two brothers, Ernest of Pekin and Irwin of Deer Creek; two sisters, Gloria Young of Roseville
and Doris Salerno of Chicago; 17 grandchildren; and 20 great grandchildren.
   He was preceded in death by one son, Lawrence, one daughter, Kimberly, and five sisters.
   A World War II Army veteran, he received the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star three times.
   He owned and operated a produce business in rural Delavan for many years.
   Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, January 18, at
Fondulac Cemetery, East Peoria. The Rev. Keith Heberer officiated. Davis Mortuary, Tremont, was in charge of the arrangements.
   Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Jack Bollinger Jr.
   EAST PEORIA - Jack D. Bollinger Jr., 51, of 322 Arnold Road died at 4:35 p.m. Friday, Feb. 18, 2005, at his residence.
   Born June 14, 1953, in Canton to Jack Sr. and Margie Seddon Bollinger, he married Barbara J. Pack on Oct. 25, 1975, in Peoria. She survives.
   Also surviving are two daughters, Jennifer Bollinger and Kristen Bollinger, both of East Peoria; his parents of East Peoria; and one
sister, Karen (and Daniel) Hoerr of Morton.
   He worked for Caterpillar Inc. for 10 years and then worked at Midwest Marketing in Peoria for 20 years, last working as a sales manager.
   He sang in the Peoria Area Civic Chorale.
   He was a member of New Life Christian Church in Morton, where he sang on its Worship Team.
He was a former deacon at First Assembly of God in Peoria.
   A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at his church, where the family will receive friends two hours before. The Rev. Bob See will
officiate. Private burial of ashes will be in Springdale Cemetery in
Peoria. Knapp-Johnson Funeral Home in Morton is in charge of arrangements.
   Memorials may be made to Children's College Fund in care of CEFCU in East Peoria.

Gilferd L. Baker
Gilferd L. Baker, 82, of Emden died at 1:15 p.m. Saturday, August 7, 1999, at Bartmann Health Care Center in rural Atlanta.
Born February 19, 1917, in rural Lincoln to George W. and Nora Betzelberger Baker, he married Alice Anderson on June 12, 1949, in Boynton Township. 
She survives. Also surviving are three sons of Emden, Tremont and Lakewood, Colorado; one daughter of Aiken, S.C.; one brother of San Jose; and nine grandchildren. 

He was an electrician, owner and operating Baker Electric for over 50 years, retiring in 1991.  
He was a member of Zion United Methodist Church where he had served as vice chairman of the administrative council. 
He was a past member of the Emden Volunteer Fire Department.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at this church.  The Revs. Doug Rettig and Henry Cox officiated. 
Burial was in Bethel Cemetery.  Davis Mortuary in Hopedale had charge of arrangements.
Memorials may be made to his church or to Hospice Care of Illinois, 720 N. Bond, Springfield, IL 62701-94

Soldier's Body Coming Home

The body of Pvt. John David Beever, 1409 S. Thirteenth street, who lost his life in WWII, will arrive in Pekin Tuesday evening and will be
taken to the Preston Funeral Home.
Pvt. Beever, who at the time of his death was just a few months less than 21 years old, was a member of the 7th Infantry Company C., of the 3rd Division.
He met death in the invasion of southern France on Aug. 16, 1944, the second day of the invasion.
He was born in Creve Couer on June 6, 1912, a son of William W. and Ida Davis Beever. Surviving are the parents: several brothers, Frank L. Detroit;
William W. Jr. and Robert, at home; Roy, now in the army in Japan and Harry, also in the army and now in California and a sister, Mrs. Bernice Sluts, Sparland.
The youth attended the Church of the Nazarene and the Rev. L.J. Dunham will officiate at services Thursday at 2p.m. at the Preston Funeral home.

   PEORIA HEIGHTS - James Harold Bradbury, 70, of Rose Garden Care Center died there at 2:35 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 2, 2003.
   He was born May 9, 1932, in Ripley to James W. and Jennie Welch Bradbury.
   Surviving are two nephews, Robert (and Connie) Rigler and Kenny (and Sharon) Rigler, both of Pekin.
  He was preceded in death by three sisters and one brother.
   He last worked for Parc from 1985 to 2000 and previously worked at TCRC for several years.
   He was a member of Bethel Temple Church in East Peoria.
   Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Rushville Cemetery in Rushville.
Visitation will be from 2 to 3 p.m. Wednesday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel.
   Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate or any charity

Harry W. Burrell, 83, of 303 Walnut St. died at 7:32 p.m. Wednesday (Feb. 14, 1990) at Pekin Memorial Hospital. Born July 31, 1906, in Marengo Ind.,
to George and Monzella Rawlings Burrell, he married Blanche Whitman at English, Ind., on April 23, 1927.

Surviving are his wife; three sons, Charles R. of Delavan, William "Ed" of Pekin and James R. of San Antonio, Texas; two daughters, Mrs. James (Olive) Plut of
Pekin and Mrs. George (Rosie) Lambert of Grand Prairie, Texas; 14 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. One sister and one brother preceded him in death.

Employed at both Caterpillar Inc. and Corn Products Inc., until 1942, he then farmed in the Delavan area for 45 years. He also was the sexton at both Delavan
cemeteries, Prairie Rest and St. Mary's Catholic, for 41 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of Delavan Baptist Church and Tazewell County Farm Bureau.

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday in Prairie Rest Cemetery, the Rev. Jack Porter officiating. Thre will be no visitation. Woolsey Funeral Home,
Delavan Chapel, is in charge of arrangements. Memorials may be made to the American Heart Association.
