SISTER OF PEKIN TEACHER DIES IN INNIS, LOUISIANA

Mrs., Agnes A Bross, principal of the Franklin school this morning received a message telling of the death of her sister, Mrs. Eva Hammond, which occurred at  her home in Innis, LA last night and which was due to heart failure.

Mrs. Hammond was a daughter of the late Dr. H.K. and Philinda Young-Alexander and was born in Pekin 79 years ago. She left Pekin in 1923 and since that time resides at Innis. Her husband died several years ago.

Mrs. Hammond had many friends in Pekin and will be kindly remembered by them as a good, kind hearted Christian woman. She is survived by two brothers, Kenneth and Alexander of Innis and a sister, Mrs. Agnes Bross. The funeral was held at Innes this afternoon and burial was in the cemetery there.

Mrs. Caroline Herget,  Pioneer Resident Of Pekin, Succumbs At Age 85;
Funeral Services To Be Saturday Afternoon

    Mrs. Caroline Herget, widow of the late George Herget and one of this community's oldest and most highly esteemed and beloved residents passed away this morning at her home 829 Washington street, the end coming a 6.10 o'clock.
Mrs. Herget suffered a fall about a year ago, never fully recovering from its effects and her condition had been serious for several days past.
    Mrs. Herget was a member of St. Paul's Evangelical church, active in its affairs for many years and closely identified with church work.
She was considerate, benevolent and charitable, a good Christian woman, whose life had been an influence for much good and whose
memory will be cherished by those near and dear to her.
        Leaves Three Children.  She is survived by two sons, Henry G Herget and William P Herget, president and vice president of the Herget National bank, one daughter Mrs. George Ehrlicher and five grandchildren, George Arthur and Mary Ehrlicher,  George and Henry Harnish, all of Pekin.
    Mrs. George Herget (Caroline Gainer) was born in the north part of the present limits of Pekin March 22, 1840.
    She was the daughter of George Gainer (Goehner) and Anna Maria Conzelman, who were born near Stuttgart, Germany, and left there in 1832 for
America.    They located at Erie Pa. and shortly thereafter came to Pekin. Mrs. Herget's early childhood was spent on the ??? ??? ??? Groveland, Ill.. where she lived with her parents for six years.
     Married in 1861     They then moved to the farm which her father had bought from Dr. Maus (this farm has always been in the family and is at present owned by John Gainer) where she lived until her marriage to George Herget April 9, 1861
    They were married in the house then located on the site of the present home of Mr. Louis Hackler, 511 Elizabeth street. Mr. and Mrs. Herget immediately moved into the home purchased by Mr Herget and still standing No. 303 North Fifth street. Here they lived until the railroad, now known as the Big Four, was built, when the family moved into the small house on the lot where the present home is located.
    This was in  1870 and the present home 629 Washington street was built two years later.
    Of the children, Henry G.; Mary L. (Ehrilcher) and Wm. P. were born in the Fourth street home and Anna Caroline was born in the present Washington Street home. She preceded her parents in death, having passed away November 29, 1910,  Mr. George Herget on March 11, 1914.
    Mrs. Herget is the last member of her family of the following members:
Martin Gainer, who died August 9, 1917 and lived for a great many years at Minier, Ill. Mary who died at an early age near Groveland Ill. Veronica (Mrs. Martin Friedinger) and John Gainer who died some years ago.
    Funeral service will be held Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock at the residence 629 Washington street. Rev. Arno A. Zimmerman, pastor of St. Paul's Evangelical church will officiate and interment will be in Lakeside cemetery.
