Hannah Linder
MORTON - Hannah R. "Nan" Linder, 80, of 412 Willow Oak, formerly of
the Plainfield area, died at 12:04 p.m. Saturday, July 19, 1997, at OSF
Saint Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Born Aug. 5, 1916, in Peoria to John and Hilda Quine, she married
Lawrence E. Linder on Dec. 23, 1940, in Kirksville, Mo. He died in 1984
in Plainfield.
Surviving are three daughters, Patricia Toland of Bowling Green,
Ky., Mrs. Marlan (Nancee) Pennington of Plainfield and Mrs. Michael
(Virginia) Marriott of Peoria; six sisters, Florence Mathieson, Mary Oliver,
Pauline Smith, Barbara Tabor, Nancy Owen and Joyce Romane, all
of Peoria; two brothers, Clifford Quine of Peoria and John Quine of Lewistown;
nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and seven
great-great-grandchildren.
She worked at Fleischmann Distillery in Plainfield for many years.
She was a member of Caterpillar Retirees Club.
She was a volunteer for the Salvation Army.
She attended Community United Church of Christ in Morton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Woolsey-Wilton Funeral Home
in Peoria. The Rev. Roger Mealiff will officiate. Visitation will be from 4
to 8 tonight at the funeral home. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday
at Plainfield Township Cemetery in Plainfield.
Memorials may be made to the Salvation Army or to Community United
Church of Christ in Morton.

Woodford Pioneer Dead
Mrs. Mary LEINWEBER, Early Settler, passes awy at
the age of 77 years at Benson. Another of the old settlers of Tazewell and
Woodford counties haspassed away.
The Metamora Herald gives the following particulars:
Mrs. Mary LEINEWEBBER (ed: LEINWEBER), member of
the Gangloff family,amoung the earliest settlers in Tazewell and Woodford
counties,
passed away at her home in Benson last friday, at the age of 77 years.
Deceased was the oldest of the daughters and one of eleven children of John B. Gangloff, a pioneer settler in Tazewell and Woodford counties.
She was born in Tazewell county August 4, 1842.
Later her parents settled in Worth township, Woodford county on the Gries farm.
In 1865 she was united in marriage with Joseph Leinewebber. The family settled
at Benson in 1874, which had since then been her home.
Her husband died in 1885. Five children survive, Mrs. William Ryan of Henry,
Joseph, Andrew and Lewis Leinewebber of Benson.
Of her brothers and sisters, four survive, Mrs. Seraphine Gries of Metamora,
Andrew Gangloff of Rensselaer, Ind.,
Mrs. Elizabeth Ruffing and Mrs. Angeline Gries of Benson. A sister and brother
were the late Mrs. Geo. Meister and John J. Gangloff of Metamora.
Funeral services were held in the Catholic church
in Benson at 9:30 Monday morning.
A large number of Metamorans attended the services including: George, Joseph,
Henry and Lawrence Gangloff and members of their families,
Mrs. J. J. Gangloff, Miss Katie Elbert, J. P. Elbert, Geo. Meister, L. B.
Meister, Raymond and Louis Gries.
Six of the deceased's nephews acted as pall bearers. At the close of the
services the body was laid to rest in the Benson Catholic cemetery.

Mrs. D. N. LOYD passed away at her home one half mile north of Gretna [Phillips County, KS] at 4 o'clock June 9, 1933, at the age of 69 years 2 months and 20 days.
Miss Ardelia McDERMED was born in Tremont, Ill., March 21, 1864.
She came to Phillips county in 1879 in a covered wagon with her mother,
stepfather and four younger brothers and a younger sister.
She was married July 22, 1883 to D.N. [David Newton] LOYD and
made her first home in a small frame house one half mile north and
three-quarters west of Gretna.
One year later she moved with her husband to a 40 acre homestead a mile and a
half east, where they built a sod house and lived for several years.
Seven children were born in the family, four boys, Dell, Elmer, Joe, and Frank;
and three girls. Pearl, Lydia, and
Effie now Mrs. Lester McALISTER ,Mrs. Lloyd FERGUSON and Mrs. Allan ADEE, all of
whom are living and were with her when she passed away.
Her chief interest was her home and family and she gave herself
unsparingly to both.
Through years of Kansas drouth, prairie fire and grasshoppers she toiled to keep
her family fed and clothed and in school, that they might have advantages she
had been denied.
In 1904 the family moved to the old home place one half mile north of
Gretna. Mrs. LOYD lived to see 14 grandchildren born in the family, all
surviving.
Christmas and Thanksgiving dinners with mother and grandmother have been for
many years annual events looked forward to by children and grandchildren alike.
Besides her children and grandchildren, Mrs. LOYD leaves to mourn her passing, her husband, three brothers, John, Frank, and Charley McDERMED and many other relatives and friends.

James Logsdon
James William Logsdon, 67, of Pekin, died at 10:40 a.m. Wednesday,
Sept. 4, 2002, at Hopedale Hospital in Hopedale.
He was born Feb. 16, 1935, in Green Valley to Lennie B. and Rosa
Havens Logsdon.
He was preceded in death by one son, Scott and one sister.
Surviving are one daughter, Tammie Conn of Peoria; two brothers,
Lyle (Katie) of Green Valley and Ora (Judy) of Abingdon; three half sisters,
Kay Watson of Morton, Janet Sue (Ron) Tardif of Florida and and Tina (Fred)
Christ of Elmwood; three grandchildren; and a niece, Arla (Dale)
Schmick of Manito, who took care of him.
A life member of Augusta Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 9029, he was
a Korean War Air Force veteran with rank of airman first class, serving
from 1953 to 1957. He was a barber for many years in Manito
and later in Augusta before retiring.
He was a member of the National Rifle Association and Manito
Masonic Lodge 476, AF&AM.
Graveside services were held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at War Veterans
Memorial Cemetery with the Rev. Robert Brite Jr. officiating. Graveside
military rites were conducted by Roy L. King Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 1232.
Arrangements were in charge of the Preston-Hanley Funeral Home,
Pekin Chapel.
Memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer
Foundation, Peoria Memorial Affiliate.

Mrs. Ella Vaupel-Logan, wife of Gilbert Logan, of Cincinnati township, died Sunday at 12:10 o'clock at the home of her father, John Vaupel, in Cincinnati township, after a long illness, death being due to lung trouble.
She was a daughter of John and Emma Gainer-Vaupel, and was born in Cincinnati township, February 1, 1887. Her marriage to Gilbert Young (suppose to be Logan) occurred in Pekin September 30, 1914. Her mother preceded her in death a number of years ago, and she is survived by her husband, father, two children, Leslie and Thelma; three brothers, Charles M., Ernest C., and John E Vaupel, and two sisters, Mrs. George Young and Mrs. William Long jr, both of Elm Grove township.
Funeral services will be held at the Woodrow Union Church, Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock. Rev. Ballinger of Tremont will officiate and interment will be in Woodrow cemetery.

Mrs. Margaret Lee Died Suddenly
Mrs. Margaret Elizabeth LEE died suddenly sometime during the night at her home, corner North Fifth and Chestnut streets.
She was found dead in bed this morning by her daughter, Mrs. J. A. Smalley, who spent the night with her.
Mrs. LEE had been in ill health for some time, but seemed as well as usual last night.
She lay in bed with her daughter and talked until about midnight when she dropped off to sleep. When Mrs. Smalley awoke this morning at --- o'clock, she tried to arouse her mother, but found her dead. Heart trouble is thought to have been that cause.
An inquest will be conducted this evening Coroner Clary.The maiden names of the deceased was Margaret WORDELL, she was born June 12, 1849. Her marriage to Joseph E. Lee took place on Feb. 18, 1868 and the family lived on a farm in Groveland township for many years. Mr. Lee died twenty-four years ago, and seven years ago, the widow moved to this city to make her home.
The surviving children are William R. Lee, of Deer Creek; Edwin A. Lee, Jefferson, Iowa; Franklin D. Lee, Dana Iowa; Mrs. J. A. Smalley, Pekin and Lincoln W. Lee, Dana, Iowa.
