LaVerna Moorhouse
   PEKIN - LaVerna Rose Moorhouse, 80, of 1520 El Camino Drive, died at 4:50 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 3, 2006, at Pekin Manor. She was formerly of
1612 Deppert Drive.
   Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin. The Rev. Gary L. Ford will officiate. Burial will be in
Glendale Memorial Gardens in Pekin.
   Family will receive friends from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin Chapel, and also from 9:15 to 9:45 a.m. Monday at
the church.    Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin.
   Born Aug. 27, 1925, in Pekin to Nelson George and Carrie Lee Crafton Eschmeyer, she married John B. Moorhouse Jr. on June 12, 1949, in Pekin.
He died Aug. 3, 1996, in Woodstock.
   Surviving are two daughters, Carol S. (Paul) Dahlgren of Greeley, Colo., and Judy K. (Dennis) Dietrich of Pekin; one son, John L. (Pamela)
Moorhouse of Woodstock; eight grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
   Moorhouse had worked as a secretary for the Tazewell County Circuit Clerk and at Caterpillar Inc. and Farm Service.
While living in Richmond, she worked for McHenry School District.
   She was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Pekin, where she was a member of the Tri-M Adult Sunday school class, United Methodist
Women and the Priscilla Circle. In earlier years, she and her husband served as youth leaders at the church. She also had played in the bell
choir at the church and was formerly active with Chapter LM of the PEO Sisterhood.
   She enjoyed playing bridge and pinochle and cooking. She also enjoyed playing golf and bowling.

Mrs. MILLER Dies at Family Home in Washington.

Washington, Ill. Sept. 28th [1939]-Shortly before noon, Wednesday, Mrs. Stephen Miller, 71, who suffered a stroke of paralysis last Thursday evening, passed away at the
family home here and the body was removed to the Habecker funeral home. However, Mrs. Miller will be taken back to her home
Thursday where final rites will be held at 1:30 p. m., Saturday, and at 2 p. m. from the St. Mark's Lutheran church, Dr. L. J. Powell officiating.
Interment will be in the Glen Dale cemetery.

Miss Adeline Hayes was born and raised here and married Stephen Miller, well known farmer here.F our children were born to them and with Mr. Miller, survive.
They are Mrs. Phillip (Cora) Vohland, Mrs. Henry (Alberta) Vohland,and Mrs. John (Edith) Schere, all of here, and Roy Miller of Peoria,
with 10 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, also survive. She was a devoted homemaker, mother and wife and a splendid neighbor,
devoting her life to the welfare of others. Mrs. Miller was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran church.

Sanford H. McCorkle was born at Washington, ILL., July 16, 1869.  He was the youngest of three children born to Miles B. McCorkle and Martha McCorkle.

His father and mother had moved, in company with several other families, from Versailles, Kentucky to Washington. 
When about seven years old the family moved again to a farm near Bedford, Iowa, where he lived continuously until
about six years ago, at that time going to live on the farm in Missouri where he died.
He was married August 16, 1906, to Elizabeth F. Randolph, who mourns him as also do their three children, Miles Randolph, Ruth Elizabeth and Mary Louise.
He died at about eight o'clock Tuesday evening, April 26, 1921, after an illness of several months.
The funeral was held at the residence, which was the largest ever held in this part of the county. 
The body was laid to rest in the Hopkins cemetery.  TheMasons had full charge. Bedford Times-Republican.

Edwin J. McClarence, dies at 79

Pekin- Edwin J. Mc Clarence, 79, former Tazewell County Treasurer and member of Tazewell County Board of Supervisors, died at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, in Pekin Memorial Hospital.
He had been ill five months. A resident of 1105 S. 5th st., he was treasurer from 1958 - 62 and a member of the County Board 39 years, serving as chairman two terms.
He was serving on the County Board when the Tazewell County Nursing Home was built and served as a former chairman of the nursing home board of directors.
He also was supervisor of buildings at Tazewell County Courthouse. He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Pekin Elks Lodge and Tazewell Numismatic Society.

Born April 4, 1904, in Spring Valley to Henry and Mary Ann Navin McClarence, he married Frances Rupert July 27, 1927, in Pekin.
Surviving are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Richard (Mary Ann) Mason of Country Club Hills; three grandchildren;
one great- grandchild; two brothers, Harry of Venice, Fla. and William of Pekin.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. at his church. Entombment will be in Lakeside Mausoleum. Memorials may be made to his church.

Services Set For Mortonite Killed In Fall
Morton - Mrs. Ray C. Mathis, 73, R.R. 1, Morton, died Saturday at 10:10 a.m. in St. Francis Hospital, where she had been admitted early Thursday morning after falling from a second-story fire escape at Bel-Wood Nursing Home.  Coroner Horace Payton will hold an investigation into the death.
Funeral services will be Monday at 1:30 p.m. at Ludwig Mortuary in Morton.  Burial will be in the Apostolic Christian Church Cemetery at Morton, and visitation will be after 3 p.m. today at the mortuary.
Mrs. Mathis was born Nov. 10, 1886, in Peoria, a daughter of Peter and Catherine Suffdorff Hulsebus. She was married to Jacob E. Mathis May 6, 1905, in Peoria.  
He died Nov. 4, 1958.

Surviving are one sister, Ida Cation of Proctor Home, Peoria, and four grandchildren.  One son, who died Feb. 16, 1960, one brother, and one sister preceded her in death.
Mrs. Mathis was past grand officer of the Order of the Eastern Star, past grand representative of the organization, and past matron of Grandview Chapter OES, Peoria.

Graveside services for James Eugene Magee, infant son of L.C. Eugene and Margaret A. Gobart Magee of 345 Edmund, East Peoria, were held Nov. 12 in Swan Lake Memory Gardens, The Rev. S.L. Carter of Faith Church of the Nazarene officiated.  The baby died Nov. 10 at Methodist Hospital where he was born Nov. 8.
Surviving in addition to his parents, are one sister, Lee Ann, and one brother, Timmie Eugene, both at home and his grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas E. Smith, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gobart and Mrs. Ann Conaro, all of Peoria.  A brother preceded him in death.

    Virginia R. Allen McMahan, 73, of San Jose, formerly of Green Valley, died at 5:45 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 1999, at Pekin Hospital.
    Born May 2, 1926, in Green Valley to Jonathan C. and Leona R. Forbes
Drake, she married Argel R. Allen on May 26, 1948. Surviving are one son, of Green Valley; three grandchildren; one nephew, of Green Valley, who she raised; and two nieces, who she raised, of Astoria. She was preceded in death by one son, Argel Allen Jr. and two sisters.
    She worked for the American Distilling Company in Pekin for 33 years,
retiring in 1989.  She helped her son operate Ginny's Tavern in Green Valley, which was named after her.  She last worked for Farlin Janitorial Services. She attended Calvary Baptist Church in Tremont. She was a member of the Pekin Riding Club and the Veterans of Foreign
Wars Post 1232 Auxiliary in Pekin.
    Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Preston-Hanely Funeral Home in Pekin.  The Rev. Jeff Anthony officiated.  Burial was in Green Valley Cemetery in Green Valley. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Midwest Affiliate, 900 Main Street, Suite 360, Peoria, IL 61602.

Helen Regenia Manning  

  Helen Regenia Manning, 82, of Pekin, died at 8:45 a.m. Tuesday, August 3, 1999,
at Hopedale Nursing Home in Hopedale.
    Born November 15, 1916, in Perth, KS, to Ernest Frederick and Margaret
Lucretia Winstanley Parker, she married Frank Detwieler Boyd on January 20, 1936, in Wichita, KS.
She later married Leland Grant Manning on December 7, 1941 in Wichita. He died April 9, 1968, in Holts Summit, Missouri.
She also was preceded in death by two sisters.    Surviving are one daughter, formerly of Delavan; one son, of Taylors,SC; six grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; one brother, of Abilene,Texas; and one sister of Halstead, Kansas.
    She was a billing clerk at Caterpillar Inc. in East Peoria from 1951 to
1966.  She later worked at the front desk and clothing store at the Lodge of Four Seasons in Missouri. She was a member of the United Auto Workers Highrise Residents Club and worked as a volunteer in the UAW Gift Shop. She was a member of Pekin Bible Church, its Women's Ministries,
the Mary-Martha Circle and the Ladies Bible Class.
    Services were held at 10 a.m. Saturday at her church.  The Revs. Guy Storm and Richard Jones officiated. 
Preston-Hanley Funeral Home, Pekin chapel, had charge of arrangements.
    Committal services were held at 11 a.m. Monday at Jefferson City National Cemetery in Jefferson City, Missouri.
Memorials may be made to her church or to Troy Manning's Missionary Project in Camaroon, Africa.

Donald V. Martin

    Donald V. Martin, 88, of 704 E. Mill Street, Knoxville died at 11:15 a.m. Friday, July 2, 1999, at Knox County Nursing Home. Born January 13, 1911, in London Mills to Charles and Della Pratt Martin, he married Gladys XXXX on July 15, 1933, in Lewistown.  She survives.

    Also surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Marvin (Claudette) Gustafson and Mrs. Lincoln (Betty) Phillips, both of Knoxville; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one half sister, Doris Doubet of Yates City; and one half brother, Lloyd Martin of Hopedale.   He was preceded in death by one half sister and one half brother. He was a self-employed carpenter and then worked in the maintenance department at Knoxville High School until retiring.

    He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church. Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Hurd-Hendricks Funeral Home. The Rev. Michel Clark officiated.  Burial was in Knoxville Cemetery. Memorials may be made to his church.

EAST PEORIA- Eunice M. MARVIS, 89, formerly of East Peoria, died at 2:10 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 25, 1998, at Morton Villa.

Born Oct. 22,1909 in Des Moines, Iowa, to take and Rose SYMOUR GORDON, she married Peter MARVIS in Jefferson, Iowa. He died Sept. 6, 1987, in Peoria.One daughter also preceded her in death.

She was a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church in Peoria.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Remmert Funeral Home, East Peoria. The Rev. Michael Condos will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Fondulac Cemetery, East Peoria.

    Thelma S. Menk, 86, of Delavan, formerly of Kansas, IL, died at 2:05 a.m. Saturday, July 17, 1999, at Hopedale Nursing Home in Hopedale.     Born March 20, 1913, in Kansas to Benjamin and Anna Gordon Hibschman, she married Wayne Johnson Menk on December 18, 1935, in Paris, IL.  He died April 19, 1997. One infant daughter and one sister preceded her in death.
    Surviving are three sons, XXX of Wautagua, Texas, XXX of Delavan and XXX of East Peoria; four brothers, Joseph Hibschman of Kansas, Benjamin Hibschman Jr. of Highland, Max Hibschman of Hindsboro and Dale Hibschman of
Peoria; four sisters, Bernadine Gilkerson of Morton, Margaret Jean Nelson of Highland, Hazel Burton of Portage, Indiana, and Joan Bianco of Norfolk, VA; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
    She worked as a cook for Delavan and Morton schools. She was a member of the Kansas United Methodist Church and Methodist Women.  She attended Delavan Methodist Church for many years.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at her church.  The Rev. Arthur Webb officiated.  Davis Mortuary of Hopedale had charge of arrangements. Burial was in Grandview Cemetery in Grandview. Memorials may be made to the Kansas United Methodist Church or Delavan Methodist Church.

    Paul M. Mount, Sr., 69, of Lincoln died at 9:05 p.m. Tuesday, June 19, 1999, at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital in Lincoln. He was born January 16, 1930, in Green Valley, a son of Willis and Nettie Johnson Mount.  He married Jennie XXXXX on March 20, 1955.  She survives.

    Other survivors include three daughters, two of Lincoln, and one of Big Pine Key, Florida; three sons, all of Lincoln; two sisters, one of Delavan and one of Green Valley; a brother of Buena Park, CA; and six grandchildren. Four brothers, one sister and one granddaughter preceded him in death.

 Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Kerrigan Funeral Home, Lincoln, with Tom Gerdts officiating.  Burial with full military rites was at St. Mary's Cemetery, Lincoln. Memorials may be made to Lincoln Developmental Center or the Arthritis Foundation. See obit for information about living family.

Margaret Moore Dies At Home; Funeral Saturday Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Rose Moore, 73, 604 Court Street, who died in
her home at 8 o'clock Thursday morning, will be held at Preston and Jackson Funeral home at 3 p.m. Saturday. Death was attributed to heart trouble.
Mrs. Moore, daughter of Mr. & Mrs. David Givens, was born in Cincinnati Township on Dec. 22, 1868. March 23, 1894, she married Allen L. Moore in Pekin. He preceded her in death eight years ago. Mrs. Moore had lived all of her life in and around Pekin.
Surviving are the following brother and sisters: Mrs. Eileen (Charles) Matson, Mrs. Thelma (James) Piro, Pekin. Archie W. Moore, Peoria. Two grandchildren and five great grandchildren also survive. Two children are deceased.
Friends may call at Preston and Jackson Funeral Home to the time of the services. Burial will be at Lakeview Cemetery.

ALLEN MOORE, 77, DIES YESTERDAY; FUNERAL TUESDAY
Allen Moore, aged 77 years died at his home, 520 Market street Sunday morning at 9:15 o'clock. He was born in Kentucky, Feb. 16, 1857 and was a son of Mr. and Mrs. John C. Moore.

He was twice married, his first marriage being to Lulla Curtis, who proceded him in death, and his second marriage being to Margaret Rose Givens, at Little Mackinaw, March 2, 1894, who survives him.

He also leaves the following children: Carl Moore, East Peoria; Ernest Moore, Pekin; Mrs. Jack O'Grady, Havana; Fredonia Moore, Lincoln; Mrs. John Antrim and Hazel Moore, Peoria; Mrs. Eileen (Luigi) Vittori, Pekin; Archie Moore, Peoria; Mrs. Thelma (James) Piro, Pekin. He also leaves two
brothers, George of Des Moines, Ia.; and Jasper Moore, Bath, Ill., 20 grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.

The funeral will be held at the Lohnes funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock and burial will be in Lakeview cemetery.
The Services will be in charge of Rev. W. H. Storm

Obit: Mrs. Matson, 62, Dies Following 4-Year Illness

Mrs. Eileen Matson, 62, of 628 S 12th Street, Pekin, died at 4 am today in Pekin Public Hospital, where she had been admitted as a patient eight hours earlier.
Mrs. Matson, a practical nurse, had been in failing health for the past four years.  She had lived in the 12th street residence for 22 years.
Born Aug 18, 1895, in Tazewell Co, she was a daughter of Al and Rose Givens Moore.  Her first marriage was to Louis Vittori, Sr., in January 1915. 
He died in 1950. She later was married to Charles Matson.
Surviving besides her husband are two sons, Lewis Vittori of Pekin and Thomas Vittori of Phoenix, Arizona; a sister Mrs. Thelma Piro, Pekin; a brother Archie Moore, Peoria; seven grandchildren, and one great grandchild.  A sister preceeded her in death.

Visitation will be at Kuecks Funeral home after 7p.m. saturday.  Funeral arrangements will be announced later.
She was buried in Oakgrove Section of Lakeside Cemetery, with first husband, Louis Vittori Sr. and son Lewis Vittori Jr
