EMMA C. BAGGOTT



ANNA, Ill. -- Emma C. Baggott, 83, of Anna died Sunday, Dec. 2, 2001, at Union County Nursing Home.
She was born March 12, 1918, in Union County, daughter of Arthur E. and Fannie Day Gibbs. She and Clyde C. Baggott were married Sept. 12, 1936, in Murphysboro, Ill. He died July 30, 1987.
Baggott was a licensed real estate broker and owned and operated Twin County Realty in Union County more than 21 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Betty Sharp of Jonesboro, Ill., Gayle Fox and Linda Pender of Anna; two brothers, Walter Gibbs of Alto Pass, Ill., Wilburn Gibbs of Jonesboro; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by an infant son, a sister, three brothers and a great-grandson.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden, Ill., from 6-9 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dewayne Taylor officiating. Burial will be in Casper Cemetery.

HAROLD VANCE "BUD" BAKER



HAROLD VANCE 'BUD' BAKER, 68, of Anna, Ill., formerly of Tamms, Ill., and Memphis, former 35-year composing room employee at The Commercial Appeal, died Tuesday (Mar 17, 1992) at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.. Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms with burial in St. John's Cemetery near Dongola, Ill. He was a member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Carroll P. Foster Post 3415 in Anna and a World War II Navy veteran. Mr. Baker, husband of Barbara Ann Baker, also leaves a daughter, Linda Darlene Sullivan of Little Rock; a son, John Murphy Baker, and a sister, Bonnie Mangum, both of Anna; two brothers, Richard Baker of Anna and Paul Eugene Baker of Lynchburg, Va., and two grandsons.

Anna, IL.--Richard Lee "Dick" Baker, 82, of Anna died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2007 at his home.
He was born Oct. 20, 1924 in Dongola, IL, son of Frank and Geneva Greer Baker.  He and Margie Fisher Smith were married Feb. 20, 1975 in Jonesboro, IL.
Baker had worked at REA five years, and was employed 25 years with CIPS, retiring in 1985.  He was a former commander of Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 in Anna.
He served in the U. S. Marine Corps and the U. S. Navy, and was awarded a Purple Heart.
Survivors include his wife; a daughter, Donna Bauer of Sarasota, FL; two sons, Bob Baker of DeSoto, IL, Randy Baker of Murphysboro, IL; two stepdaughters, Phyllis Hawk and Martha Sensmeier of Anna; a stepson, John Smith of Ruskin, FL; a sister, Bonnie Mangum of Anna; a brother, Paul Baker of Lynchburg, VA; 10 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Carstens officiating.  Burial will be in Anna City Cemetery with full military honors provided by VFW Post 3455.

Doyle Baldwin

 

Doyle Eugene Baldwin, 75, of McClure, Ill., died Saturday, April 22, 2006, at the Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born July 4, 1930, in Elco, Ill., son of Amos Leroy and Nellie Eva Poole Baldwin. He and Evelyn Keller were married and she preceded him in death. He and Mary Winch were married and she preceded him in death.

He was a member of the House of Prayer Church in McClure and was a lifelong farmer.

Survivors include four step-daughters, Linda Hall of McClure, Charlotte Beasley of Olive Branch, Ill., Patricia Pennington of Thebes, Ill., and Barbara Mendenhall of Ste. Genevieve, Mo.; and three stepsons, Mike Foeste of East Cape Girardeau, Mark Foeste of McClure and Bill Foeste of Olive Branch.

He was preceded in death by a son, two sisters and a brother.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Jones Funeral Home in Tamms.
Funeral will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home with the Rev. Leon Wilkins officiating. Interment will be at St. John's Cemetery in rural Dongola, Ill.

EVERETTE E. BALLARD



PARK RIDGE, IL–EVERETTE E. BALLARD, Insurance Firm Founder--
Funeral services for Everette E. Ballard, 93, a noted figure in the insurance industry, will be held Friday at Lutz & Rendleman Funeral Home, Anna, Ill.
He died Saturday in Wisconsin while visiting his son, R. Dean Ballard.
A native of Anna, Mr. Ballard got his start selling insurance in Kentucky. In 1952, he founded All American Casualty Company in Park Ridge. Mr. Ballard sold his family-run company, then called All American Life & Financial Corp., in 1974.
In 1965, the Free Enterprise Association gave him its American Success Story Award. The honor is given to 10 businessmen in this country who overcame obstacles to head their own successful companies.
Mr. Ballard was director and board chairman for O'Hare International Bank and a trustee of the Lake Bluff Home for Children. A Park Ridge resident, he was a member of First United Church of Park Ridge and a number of professional organizations.
Besides his son, he leaves a daughter, Barbara; a sister, Versia Highland; a brother, Royal; two grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.

BATON ROUGE, LA–LARRY W. BARLOW died 11 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 29, 1987, at his residence in Baton Rouge. He was 34, a native of Cobden, Ill. He was an LSU English instructor.
Memorial services at Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center chapel at 4 p.m. Wednesday, conducted by the Rev. Howard Hall and the Rev. George Goodbout.

ANNA, Ill. -- Alta B. Barnhart, 75, of Anna died Thursday, March 24, 2005, at her home.
 She was born Feb. 27, 1930, in Dongola, Ill., daughter of Leonard Kenton and Cathy Alice Apple Karraker. She and Wardell Barnhart were married Oct. 1, 1948, in Jonesboro, Ill.

 Barnhart was a member of the Church of Christ.
 Survivors include her husband; three sons, James Barnhart of Miner, Mo., Larry and David Barnhart of Anna; a daughter, Cathy White of Springfield, Mo.; a brother, Kent Karraker of Dongola; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

ALICE M. BARROWS


EL CAJON, CA--Services for ALICE M. BARROWS, 79, of El Cajon were yesterday in Lakeside-Santee Funeral Chapel. Interment was in El Camino Memorial Park. She died Tuesday in a hospital.
Mrs. Barrows, a homemaker, was a native of Cobden, Ill., and lived in the county 27 years. She had been a Grossmont Hospital housekeeping aide for 11 years.
Survivors include a daughter, Doris Finch of El Cajon; 10 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.

Cherokee Village, Ark. - JACK BARTRUTT, 80, Cherokee Village, formerly of Chesterton, IN, died Saturday (July 3, 2004) at White River Medical Center, Cherokee Village.
The funeral is at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Edmonds & Evans Funeral Home, 517 Broadway, Chesterton, with the Rev. Gerald Schweitzer officiating.
Burial is in Swan Lake Memorial Gardens, Michigan City. Visitation is from 4 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Mr. Bartrutt was born June 29, 1914, in Balcom, Ill.

Charles E. Bass Sr.

Charles E. Bass Sr., 83, of Anna died Tuesday, March 22, 2005, at Illinois Veterans Home in Anna.

He was born Oct. 7, 1921, in Jonesboro, Ill., son of Ray and Ora Watkins Bass. He and Doris Dillow were married Dec. 21, 1940, in Jackson.

He worked several years for Prairie Farms, and later was in the antique business.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, C. E. and Bill Bass of Anna; three daughters, Cindy Light of Murphysboro, Ill., Sally Helton and Kelle Bass of Anna; a brother, Harold Bass of Union, Mo.; a sister, Jean Bass of Anna; seven grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant daughter and two brothers.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6 to 8 p.m. today.

BRUCE B. BAUER

Jonesboro, IL--Bruce B. Bauer, 80, of Jonesboro died Friday, Dec. 7, 2007 at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau, Mo.
He was born March 7, 1927 in Jonesboro, son of Fred Joseph and Norma Lowrance Bauer.  He married Jeannetta Cunningham on Oct. 17, 1948 in Piggott, Ark.  She died Oct. 11, 2006.
He was a general contractor and also worked as an engineer for the State of Illinois.  He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Jonesboro and served in the U. S. Army during World War II.
He was a lifetime member of the Anna VFW and a member of the A. J. Elks Lodge.
He served on the Jonesboro Board of Aldermen for 44 consecutive years.  April 27, 2007 was proclaimed "Bruce Bauer Day" in Jonesboro in recognition of his many years of service.
He is survived by a daughter, Connie Bauer of Jonesboro.
Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday (Dec. 10, 2007) in the chapel of Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Joe Aldridge officiating.  Entombment will be at the Jonesboro Cemetery.  Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery by the Carroll P. Foster VFW Post 3455 of Anna.

FREMONT, IN--CHLOE MILDRED BEDFORD, 87, died Tuesday at Cameron Memorial Community Hospital, Angola. Born in Anna, Ill., she was a homemaker.
Surviving are a daughter, Dolores Anderson of Fremont; two sons, Stanley Barker of Fort Wayne and Larry Barker of Walnut Creek, Calif.; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Elmo Beers, 59, of Anna, will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday in the Union Funeral Home in West Frankfort.  Herbert Johnson will officiate.  Burial will be in the East Fork Cemetery, east of West Frankfort.

Mr. Beers died Sunday in Union Hospital in West Frankfort.  Mr. Beers, formerly of West Frankfort, attended the First Christian Church in West Frankfort and was a member of UMW Local 1345. 
He was born March 25,1916, in Missouri to Fred and Mattie Roark Beers.  Survivors include his wife, the former Elsie Hooker; a son Lonzell of Orlando, Fla.; brothers William of West Frankfort and Vernon of Brinkley, Ark.; and sisters Wilma Czaszwicz of Crete, Ella May Gunn of Thompsonville and Virginia Rice of West Frankfort.

WOLF LAKE - Elsie O. Belcher, 94, died at 11:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at her home.
She was born April 21, 1916, in Wolf Lake, the daughter of William Arthur and Bertha Mary (Spillers) Harris.
Elsie married Herman E. Belcher on Nov. 16, 1946, in Piggot, Ark., and he preceded her in death June 21, 1982.
Elsie was a member of Ware Baptist Church.
Survivors include one brother, Wayne Harris of Wolf Lake; three sisters, Helen Dodd of Anna and Dorothy Hileman and Nola Wenger, both of Jonesboro; and several nieces, nephews and many friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; one sister, Ethel Chrismer; and two brothers, Clarence and Earl Harris.
Funeral services for Elsie O. Belcher will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, in Rendleman and Hileman Funeral Home in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Randy Wheaton officiating. JONESBORO -- Lorene (Mayberry) Benefield, 90, died at 12:41 a.m. Friday, Nov. 25, 2011, in Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday in Valley Mission Pentecostal Church in Jonesboro, with the Rev. Billy Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Valley Mission Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Monday at the church.

CAPE GIRARDEAU--A memorial service for ANEDA BENNETT of Jonesboro, Ark., will be held at 2 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel. The Rev. Cy Smith will officiate.
    There is no visitation.
    Bennett, 60, died Thursday, Dec. 4, 1997, in Jonesboro.
    She was born Feb. 18, 1937, in Union County, Ill., daughter of Alexander “Eck” and Sylvia Price Goodpasture.
    Bennett had lived in Cape Girardeau most of her life. She had been a nurse’s aide at St. Francis Medical Center, Southeast Missouri Hospital, and Heartland Care and Rehab Center, retiring in 1984.
    Survivors include a son, Richard Zimmerman of Sesser, Ill.; three daughters, Sherril Evans of Carterville, Ill., Doris Morrison and Melinda Zimmerman of Cape Girardeau; two brothers, Garl Goodpasture of Cobden, Ill., Bill Goodpasture of Jonesboro, Ark.; two sisters, Barbara Goodpasture of Cape Girardeau, Virginia Hicks of Granite City, Ill.; and several grandchildren.

Cobden, IL.--David L. Bennett, 41, of Cobden died Sunday, Dec. 16, 2007 at Union County Hospital in Anna, IL.
He was born June 2, 1966 in Carbondale, IL, son of Henry E. and Esther E. Hickam Bennett.
Bennett graduated from a technical trade school in Oklahoma City in 1986.  He was manager of Italian Village in Carbondale more than 10 years and also was an electrician with his father at Bennett Electric in Cobden.  He was a member of First Presbyterian Church.
Survivors include a daughter, Ash Lee Bennett of Anna; three brothers, Richard and Dan Bennett of Cobden, Jeff Bennett of Ina, IL; two sisters, Marilyn Vernon of Anna, Valerie Spurlock of Cobden.
He was preceded in death by his wife and parents.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Cobden.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 20, 2007) at the funeral home with the Rev. Bryan Morrison officiating.  Burial will be in Cobden Cemetery.

DELMAR FRANKLIN BERRY


JONESBORO, ILL--DELMAR F. BERRY, 87, died Saturday, Feb. 23, 2002, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, Ill.  He was born March 3, 1914 in Alton, Mo., son of Louis and Crecy Berry.
He and Vesta Davis were married Nov. 27, 1937 in Oran, Mo.  She preceded him in death.  He was employed by Transcraft in Anna, Ill.
Survivors include sons, John Berry of Ullin, Ill., and Tom Berry of DeSoto, Ill.; four daughters, Kathleen Trexler of Jonesboro, Ruby Coffman of Royalton, Ill., Pat Peshoff of McClure, Ill., and Rita Trexler of Jonesboro; 17 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son.
Friends may call Monday from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hileman & Parr Funeral Services in Jonesboro.  Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Carl Land officiating.  Burial will be in Casper Cemetery.

 Funeral for William T. "Bill" Bilderbeck of Alto Pass will be held at 3 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Alto Pass. The Rev. Danny Miller will officiate. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery.

William, 89, died Monday, Sept. 17, 2001, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Jan. 20, 1912, in Alto Pass, son of John Thomas and Lula Belle Broadway Bilderbeck. He and Berniece High were married Aug. 21, 1937, in Paducah, Ky. She died May 23, 1998.

He farmed in Alto Pass, and was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Helen Bilderbeck of Springfield, Ill., Patricia Dresner of Albuquerque, N.M.; three sisters, Maude Anderson of Littleton, Colo., Hazel Karsteter and Mary Smith of Anna, Ill.; a granddaughter; and a great-granddaughter.

He was preceded in death by two sisters.

DENVER, CO--CAROLYN DIANNE BILLINGHAM, 49, of Federal Heights died Nov. 13. Services were Nov. 18. Mrs. Billingham was born in Anna, Ill., on March 14, 1947. She married Gary Billingham, 1968. She was an executive secretary. She was a charter member of the Trinity Covenant Church of Broomfield.

Born in Anna, Ill., she moved to Kissimmee from Herrin, Ill., in 1985. She was a homemaker and a member of Hurricane Memorial Baptist Church, Herrin.

Elgin, IL.--WILLIAM CARL BIRD, SR., 86, of Jonesboro, IL, died Monday, July 30, 2001 at the Union County Hospital in Anna.
He was born in the Wayside Community in Union County, IL on October 6, 1914, the son of Ira and Myrtle (Hoyle) Bird.
He married Lulu Fox on March 4, 1939. She preceded him in death on July 4, 1982. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Elgin, IL. He was a retired Baptist minister serving in Texas, Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri and Ohio and he retired as an educator from the Elgin Mental Health Center.
He enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by two sons, William C. (Carolyn) Bird, Jr. of Jonesboro and George Wallace Bird of Elgin, IL; a daughter, Lulu Anne Roessler of Elgin, IL; six grandchildren, Sonya Suzanne (Joe) Jaquet of Jonesboro, IL, Jeremy W. (Gina) Bird of Jonesboro, IL, Del (Becky) Roessler of Elgin, IL, Jeff Roessler of Bartlett, IL, Mandy Roessler of Glendale Heights, IL and Edward Roessler of Elgin, IL; three great grandchildren, Cody Ryan Hand and Kayla Christina Hand both of Jonesboro, IL and Anne Michelle Roessler of Elgin, IL; a brother, Lloyd Bird of Anna, IL; and nieces, nephews and other relatives.

James BLADES, 70, Rt. 1, Pittsburg, died at 11 a.m. Thursday in Marion Memorial Hospital after a three-month illness.
He was a retired coal miner and last worked at the Crab Orchard Mine. He was a member of the United Mine Workers of
America, Local 8845.
Mr. Blades, son of Thomas and Nancy JOHNSON BLADES, was born Oct 22, 1899, in Union County.

TAMPA, FL--DALLAS BLOODWORTH, 64, of Mancelona, Mich., died Feb. 7 at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Saginaw, Mich. A native of Anna, Ill., he came to this area five years ago from Dade City. He was a farmer.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; five daughters, Patricia Campbell, Cynthia Duncan and Gloria, all of Dade City, Victoria Hall of New Port Richey, and Karen Vaughn of Jackson, Miss.; five sons, Larry and Dallas C., both of Dade City, and Richard, James and Daren, all of Mancelona; and 25 grandchildren.

Anna, IL.--Lenore J. Bloodworth, 84 of Anna died Thursday, July 5, 2007 at Gateway Regional Medical Center in Granite City, IL.
She was born Jan. 28, 1920 at West Frankfort, IL, daughter of James and Vertie Durham Thomas.  She and George Bloodworth were married Feb. 15, 1938 at Anna.  He died April 20, 2005.
Survivors include a son, , Willard Bloodworth of Granite City, IL; two daughters, Wilma Limpert of Arnold, MO, Janet Kazee of Memphis, TN; a sister, Betty Cronin of Florissant, MO; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna.
Funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday (July 9, 2007) at the funeral home, with the Rev. Anthony Underwood officiating.  Interment will be in McGinnis Cemetery east of Anna.
