Picture taken c1910. John E. Lowrance was born 28 August
1870, son of John S. & Nancy E. (Corzine) Lowrance. He died 26 December
1921 in Union County, and is buried with his wife and four
sons in the Karraker School/Christian Chapel Cemetery near
Dongola..
The father, John S., was born in 1848 and the mother, Nancy
E. Corzine was born in 1851. Both of their deaths are
unknown. John E. married Martha Jane Lence 03 June 1895 in Jonesboro. Martha was born 25 June 1877 and died 03 July 1973. She was the daughter of George Washington Lence, who was born in 1849 and Margaret Hinckle, born 1856. Martha later married George W. Gurley on 20 Mar 1926 in Union County. John and Martha had the following children: (1) Corney E. Lowrance, b. 12 March 1896; d. 04 March 1899. (2) Neely A. Lowrance, b. 17 October 1897; d. 07 April1903. (3) George Sidney Lowrance, b. 30 September 1900; d. 18 September 1902. (4) Lova Eva Lowrance, b. 13 August 1906; d. 04 November 1934. She married William Harrison Fisher 31 October 1923 at Jonesboro. (5) Ernest Charles Lowrance, b. 14 March 1909 at Dongola; d. 29 March 1992 Waukegan, IL. Ernest married Elizabeth "Betty" Fox (1914-2008) 14 June 1943 at Ottawa, IL. |
