Andrew Jackson Nipper was born September 18, 1844 in Roane County, Tennessee to James R. Nipper and Mary Ann (Smith) Nipper. He had three other siblings William, Phoebe, and James Michael (Died in Civil War at Memphis TN.). Andrew married Mary Caroline Pirtle November 3, 1870 in Jonesboro Illinois. They had 7 children:  Minnie, Flora, John, Anna, Effie, Albert Andrew, and Leo.
Andrew died January 29, 1920 and is buried at Alto Pass Cemetery.
Civil War History: Enlisted August 14, 1862 at Anna Illinois for 3 years in Volunteers. Mustered in September 11, 1862 in Company "C" of the 109th Illinois under Captain B. F. Hartline. Discharged for disability at Fort Pickering, Memphis, Tennessee April 16, 1863 because of severe cough and pain in the chest contracted while in service.
