Emma Cecil Tripp

Emma Tripp, 101, of Marion passed away at 9:38 AM, Monday, November 17, 2003 at Fountains Nursing Center, Marion.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, November 22, 2003 at Mt. Hebron Cumberlin Presbyterian Church in Goreville with Reverend Michael Garrett officiating. Blue Funeral Home in Goreville is in charge of the arrangements. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 2:00 PM, Saturday, November 22, 2003 at the church. Burial will be at Mt. Hebron Cemetery, Goreville.

Ms. Tripp was born on October 23, 1902 in Union County, Illinois to Nicholas Boston and Amanda (Hastings) Tripp.

Survivors include a sister, Ruby J. Coleman of Marion; several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and six sisters.

Ms. Tripp was a member of Mt. Hebron Cumberlin Presbyterian Church in Goreville. She received her teaching certificate from Southern Illinois Normal University in Carbondale. She retired as an elementary teacher after 42 years, having taught in one room schools, finishing her career in Lick Creek. She was a member of the Retired Teacher's Association. She lived in Union and Williamson Counties all of her life.
