In the spring of 1911, a revival was held in the McClure school building. Tim Lockard was the evangelist.  They decided to form a church.  Bro. Lockard placed a hat at the front of the meeting place and asked if anyone would like to donate some money in order to build a church building.
C.M. Sanson gave his three year old daughter, Helen, a silver dollar which she carried to the front and placed in the hat.  That was the first dollar but by the time the church building was completed the following fall, it was debt free.  Labor was volunteered by men of the community.
The land for the building was donated by Cornelius Frick.  His was later the first funeral held in the building.
Services were held on Saturday night, Sunday morning, and Sunday evening.  Members would usually bring a potluck dinner on Sunday and spend the day.  They passed the hat to collect money to pay the preacher.
