The People of the State of Illinois, To all to whom these presents shall come, Greeting: KNOW ye, That License and permission are hereby given to any person authorized by law to solemnize the rites of matrimony, to join together as man and wife, Mr. Caleb Lindsey and Miss. Minerva J. Hancock according to the usual custom of the laws of Illinois; and for so doing this shall be sufficient warrant.
 
Given under my hand seal of office at Jonesboro this 1st day of September A.D. 1855
