BOBBY RAY TOLER, SR.
![]() Bobby Ray Toler, son of William Irvin and Viola Kay Yates Toler, was born Oct. 19, 1929, in Union County, and died Friday, Dec. 30, 1988, at Union County Hospital in Anna at the age of 59. Mr. Toler married Betty R. Hill in Union County on Sept. 20, 1952 and to this union two children were born. Mr. Toler served as chaplain’s assistant during his time in the U.S. Army, as general assistance supervisor for Union county for 11 years, as a Jonesboro precinct committeeman, and a deacon in the Union Congregational Church of Cobden. He was a member of the Cobden Masonic Lodge and a charter member of the Jonesboro Lions club. He purchased Lingle Abstract in 1973 and Union County Abstract on July 1, 1986. He has been operating both under the title of Union County Abstract Inc. He also operated Toler Farms. Survivors include his wife, Betty of Jonesboro; one son, Bobby Toler Jr. of Jonesboro; one daughter, Susan Holderfield of Anna; five grandchildren; his father, W. I. “Red” Toler of Cobden; two sisters, Barbara Molter of Bourbonnais and Stella Glasco of Cobden. Funeral services were Monday, Jan. 2, at 1:30 p.m. at Norris & Son Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerald Bethards officiating. Interment was in Jonesboro Cemetery. Norris & Son funeral Home in Jonesboro was in charge of arrangements. Gazette Democrat 5 January 1989 Submitted by Larry Toler |
