Robert H. Church, aged 72 years, died at his home in Ashley Sunday, after an illness of two weeks' duration. Deceased was born near Pinckneyville in Perry county and in 1870 was married to Miss Rosella Johnson of Richview, the wife passing away in 1878. Mr. Church was a member of Co. A, 81st Ill. Inf., during the Civil War and was captured by the Confederates and confined to the notorious Andersonville Prison. He was honorably discharged from the army on May 22, 1865. Since the war Mr. Church has been a resident of Ashley.

Departed is survived by two sons, Rolla of Sherman, Texas, and Edgar of Sibley, Louisiana.
