Receive Final Summons Wm. Given Joins Silent Army
Wm. Given The only daughter, Katie, last year met a tragic death in St. Louis through the explosion of a gasoline stove. Mr. Given leaves to mourn his loss a brother, Robert Given of Weldon, who has been here and took care of his brother during his last illness, and a nephew, James A. Given of Centralia, Mo. Deceased was a brave soldier, good citizen, kind-hearted and pleasant spoken. He was gifted with a remarkable memory and had a fund of entertaining and interesting information about the early settlers of this county. The funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock in the Presbyterian church, Rev. H.G. Dusenberry officiating. Interment was made in Greenwood cemetery. Nashville G.A.R. Post paid tribute to their departed comrade by attending in a body and had charge of the services at the grave. The following comrades acted as pallbearers: Forman Evans, Martin Poole, N.F. Jones, W.H. Martin, Henry Krueger and Chas. Schlinger.
