Mr. Kaemper emigrated to America in 1856, making his home in St. Louis until 1880 when he removed to this city. During the Civil War he fought for the Union, having enlisted in Co. In 1883 Mr. Kaemper was united in matrimony with Mrs. Marie Erke, nee S___, who survives him with her daughter, Martha (Mrs. Frank Flachmeyer) and foster daughter, Mrs. Laura McCormick of St. Louis.

The funeral services were held Friday at the residence at 1:30 p.m. and in the Evangelical church at 2 o'clock, the casket being draped with the flag deceased had defended. Rev. F. Baltzer officiated, using the text chosen by the departed as the basis of his sermon. Comforting hymns were sung by the congregation and a quartet--Dr. E.H. Homan, George Homan, Miss Minn E. Buhrman and Mrs. Oscar Rabenneck. The pallbearers were: T.L. Reuter, W.H. Martin, Henry Krueger, H.F. Heckert, William Wiese and George Hohman.
