Hugh McElroy of Perry county died Jan. 5 at the Baptist hospital in St. Louis after a lingering illness of Bright's disease at the age of 65 years, 10 months and 20 days. He was born in Ireland Feb. 14, 1848, and was married in January 1874, to Margaret Cheek, who preceded him in death twenty-six years ago. Of the five children one daughter, Mary, survives. Mr. McElroy also leaves three half-brothers, John, R.J., and Alex McKinstry, and one half-sister, Mrs. Robt. McCune. He was laid to rest in the Presbyterian cemetery at Oak Grove.
