WALTER S. BOOTH

Walter S. Booth, who for 20 years has been assistant superintendent of public instruction for Illinois, died suddenly of heart disease Saturday while visiting his sister, Mrs. Charles Kurg, in Mount Carmel.

Mr. Booth had at one time been superintendent of schools at Mount Carmel and later entered state work as assistance to Francis C. Blair. Mr. Booth at times was teachers' institute instructor here and in more recent years made an annual trip through the county with the county superintendent of schools to determine the standing of the various elementary schools.

GUS BRUECKMAN

Mrs. J. E. Trout received the sad message Wednesday morning that announced the death of her brother Gus Brueckman. He had been seriously ill since June and had at that time been visited by Mrs. Troutt at his home in Keokuk, Iowa. Mr. Brueckman was 54 years of age and is survived by his wife, one daughter, Miss Elizabeth, who is a teacher in the Chicago schools; two sisters, Mrs. J. E. Troutt of this city and Mrs. Lena Tate of St. Louis and a brother, Carl Brueckman of St. Louis.

The departed was a native of Masroutah, one of eight children of the late Mr. and Mrs. Michael Brueckman. When he was a small child the family removed to Nashville, where the father was engaged in the shoe business for many years. Gus attended school here and as a youth serviced an a pprenticeship in the hardware trade in Scheurer Brothers' store. Later he went to St. Louis and then accepted employment as a plumber with a Keokuk firm, with which he was identified until his last illness. Five years ago Mr. and Mrs. Brueckman lost one of their daughters, Katherine, which cast sorrow upon the family circle.

MRS. AGNES EDMISTON

Mrs. Agnes Edmiston, died at here home in Richview Tuesday morning, one of the oldest residents of the county. She had reached the age of 92 years, 7 months and 16 days. Mrs. Edmiston was a member of a pioneer Washington county family named Bingham and she was born south of Nashville Dec. 29, 1840. Her marriage with J. A. Edmiston of Richview took place when she was 17 years of age and they established their home in Richview. They later built a handsome home in Richview where she resided for 68 years. Her husband preceded here in death many years ago. Her health has been greatly impaired with age, but her mentality was bright and she continued to take an interest in local and national affairs. Three children survive here, E. C. Edmiston of St. Louis, Mrs. Pluma Hoke of Chicago and Fred B . Edmiston of Centrailia.

The Edmiston and Bingham families are associated with the early history of the county and Mrs. Edmiston herself was a woman of strong character, lovely spirit and was adored by all her friends and members of her family.

The funeral services were held in Richview this Thursday afternoon, Rev. M. C. Foltz was in charge of the rites. Burial was made in the Richview cemetery.

MRS. MARY E. HAMILTON

Mrs. Mary E. Hamilton died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Maggie Wilburn in Coulterville Saturday morning at 8:45 o'clock of cancer at the age of 60 years, 6 months and 8 days. Mrs. Hamilton had been ailing for over a year. Though solicitous about the happiness of others, she congaed her own troubles to no one and had a sunny disposition at all times. Finally, her condition was found to be so critical that she was taken to Barnes hospital, St. Louis for an operation from where she was brought to the home of her daughter where she peacefully passed away. During her last days she was tenderly cared for by her two daughters, Mrs. Wilburn and Miss Frances, and both were at her bedside when she entered rest.

The departed, daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Vulchard, was born three miles north of Coulterville in Lively Grove township on Dec. 4, 1872. She was united in marriage with Charles Hamilton in Nashville May 23, 1889. She was bereft of her beloved husband on Feb. 27, 1909, who died on the old homestead in this county. After his death Mrs. Hamilton removed to Coulterville, at which places she has since resided.

Surviving here are four children John and Charles Hamilton of here, Mrs. Maggie Wilburn and Miss Frances Hamilton of Coulterville, also five granddaughters.

Funeral services were held in the United Presbyterian church in Coulterville Tuesday afternoon and interment was made in the Coulterville cemetery.

HENRY KOELLER

Henry Koeller, a farmer of St. Libory, died early Tuesday morning Aug. 8, at his home at the age of 70 years, 3 months and 4 days. He was born May 4, 1863 at S. Libory, a son of the last Casper and Gertrude Koeller, nee Korte. His marriage to Gertrude Luechtefeld was performed April 28, 1891, and she preceded him in death June 12, 1926. Surviving him are eight children: Henry of St. Louis and Casper, Joseph, Libory, George, Anton, Mrs. William Behrman and Mrs. Frank ___landheinrich, all of St. Libroy.

The funeral services were held Friday morning at six o'clock at St. Liborius church, Rev. J. B. Henken officiating. Interment was made at St. Liborius cemetery.

MRS. WILLIAM LAMPE

Mrs. Wm. Lampe, a former resident of Nashville passed away at the Deaconess hospital in St. Louis last Thursday evening at 6 o'clock at the age of 54 years, 1 month and 7 days. She had been ailing for the last six years and during this time underwent many operations. Last Christmas her condition grew critical. Although she had living care at home, it was hoped that her condition might improve if she were taken to the hospital but even this proved unavailing.

Deceased was born four miles northeast of Hoyleton, was confirmed in the Evangelical church at Hoyleton and was joined in wedlock with Wm. Lampe at the home of the bride's parents on June 14, 1900. The family lived in Nashville years ago, but removed to a farm 1 ½ miles west of Irvington.

Surviving her are her husband and four children: Otto Lampe of Centralia, Anna, Mrs. Milton Hake of Irvington, Lulu, Mrs. Oscar Srayker, of Hoyleton and Rudie Lampe at home, one daughter-in-law; her aged mother, Mrs. Henry Toedte; two brothers Wm. Toedte of Nashville and Chris Toedte of Dooley, Mont.; three sisters, Mrs. Wm. Riechman of Irvington; Mrs. Strumbo of Montana and Mrs. Christopherson of North Dekota; seven grandchildren. One daughter, Linda and the father, Henry Toedte, preceded her in death.

Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon in the Evangelical church at Hoyleton. Rev. G. F. Brink of Hoylton and Rev. Geo. Hohman of Irvington officiating, with interment in the cemetery there.

WILLIAM LUKE

With Memory unimpaired and without the infirmities that so often accompany length of days, William Luke, one of the oldest citizens of Nashville, passed away peacefully Tuesday morning at the age of over four score and seven years. Mr. Luke enjoyed unusually good health this he was afflicted with rheumatism and then contracted asthma about three weeks ago. Still he was up and around and was confined to his bed only a day before his end, Monday at midnight he fell into a deep slumber and without awaking the sleep terminated in death at daybreak Tuesday morning at 4 o'clock.

Decedent was born near Marietta, Ohio, July 13, 1846, attaining the age of 87 years, 1 month and 2 days. He came with his parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Luke, to Elkton in 1854, when he was but eight years old. Of six children he was the last to depart this life. On Feb. 2, 1869, he formed a life union with Cynthia Cunningham at Elkton. The happy union was blessed with one son and two daughters, of whom the son died in infancy. The good mother passed away on Nov. 4, 1924. About 25 years ago, he and family left Elkton and after farming near Nashville moved to their home on South Kaskaskia street. His brother former Postmaster David Luke, also preceded him in death.

Mr. Luke was a kind father and a good citizen. Without effort he could recall scenes of his youth and with his retentive memory speak entertainingly of the days of auld lang syne.

Funeral services were held at the family residence this (Thursday) afternoon at 2:30 o"clock, Rev. Abraham Wright officiating. Interment followed in the Masonic cemetery.

LAID TO REST (William C. Reidelberger)

Funeral services for William C. Reidelberger were haeld Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Baptist church. Rev. Abraham Wright officiating. Comforting songs were sun by a sextette, Mr. and Mrs. E. J. Brennecke, Walter Stroh, J. E. Thurston, Mrs. Bert Hinton and Mrs. John Gewe. The pallbearers were Geo. D. Smith, Alonzo Small, E. J. Brennecke, Jas. Whitescarver, J. E. Thurston and Geo. Johnson. Interment was made in the Greenwood cemetery.

MRS. H. W. SACHTLEBEN

Mrs. Mary Sachtleben, wife of H. W. Sachtleben, succumbed Monday night at 8:45 o'clock as a stroke of apoplexy, sustained at her home near New Minden that morning at the age of 60 years, 9 months and 18 days. She was assisting with the family washing, apparently in good health, when she suffered the seizure. In spite of the prompt medical attention and devoted care her hours were numbered and that evening surrounded by her loved ones, she breathed her last.

Deceased, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Henry Hanke, was born Oct. 27, 1872, on the farm north of New Minden now occupied by Martin Welbe. She was confirmed in the Lutheran church at New Minden by Rev. M. Eirich. At the home of her parents she married H. W. Sachtleben 38 years ago. To this happy union were born seven children, one of whom, Richard, preceded the mother into the great beyond. Surviving are her bereaved husband, four sons, Martin, Raymond, George and Henry Sachtleben, two daughters, Misses Anna and Ruth.

Funeral services were held this Thursday; at 1:30 p.m. at the family residence and thereafter in the Lutheran church. Rev. E. F.Koestering, officiating. Interment was made in the Lutheran cemetery.
