Augusta Sophia Anna SCHILLING, daughter of the late Frederick Backs and his wife Louise (nee MARTELSMEYER) was born 28 January 1871 near Okawville, Washington Co., IL. PASTOR FREDERICK WOLBRECHT baptized her on 5 March 1871. She was confirmed on the 25th of January 1885 at the Olive Branch Lutheran Church, after attending parochial school. Mrs. SCHILLING entered holy wedlock with Mr. Fred SCHILLING on 18 January 1907. REV EMIL KOCH performed the ceremony. She passed away on 22 February 1950 in Covington Township after an illness of a very short duration. She attained the age of 79 years and 24 days. Those left to mourn her departure are the husband, Mr. Fred SCHILLING, two brothers-in-laws, six sister-in-laws, and a number of nephews, nieces and friends. Funeral services were conducted Saturday afternoon at the Olive Branch Lutheran Church, Okawville, IL. Her mortal remains were laid to rest in the adjacent cemetery. Rev. J. HESEMAN officiated. The Rixmann Funeral Home of Okawville was in charge of arrangements. The following served as pallbearers.
