Obituary of Henry Schnake ( Ernst Heinrich Schnake )

Henry Schnake HENRY SCHNAKE died September 21 at Pleasant Grove, age 85 years, three months, 5 days. Born Germany June 16, 1819, married Louise Brink Nov. 2, 1845. Immigrated to this country 1849. Settled in St. Louis and from there to New Minden, later Hoyleton. Wife died Aug. 30, 1898. Of six children, one child died at sea, another, in 1862. Remaining four children are August Schnake, Mrs. Herman Peithmann, Mrs. Sam Cohlmeyer, and Wm. Schnake. Other survivors include 23 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren. Burial North Prairie Cemetery.   (Note -- the church records in Germany show that he was born June 22. There is a possibility June 22 was his christening date.) Roscoe E. Peithman, June 4, 2006
