Colfax

Eugene P. Stinde, 69, died suddenly at 9 a.m. Saturday in the yard of Clyde Phillips near his home here. He had been using the lawn mower and had stopped to talk with Scott Phillips when he was stricken with a heart attack and died.
 
The inquest was held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Willhoite Funeral Home under the direction of Coroner Leo B. Hemmele. The verdict was death due to a heart attack. Mr. Stinde had been in failing health since 1932.
 
The funeral service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Monday at the Colfax Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. William Cutlip of Decatur and the Rev. A. O. Jones, Colfax, officiating.
 
Mr. Stinde was a son of Herman and Mary Stinde, born July 25 1868, in St. Louis, Missouri. He was the last member of a family of five children. On September 28, 1898, he married Miss Mary Elizabeth Thompson of Richview. They lived in Richview until 1917 when they came to McLean County. They farmed in the Ellsworth vicinity until five years ago when ill health caused him to retire. They moved to Colfax in 1932.
 
Surviving are Mrs. Stinde and eight children: Mrs. Emma Terven, Colfax: Mrs. Maude Scott, Bellflower: Orville, Saybrook: Mrs. Elva McClellan, Mrs, Bertha Colaw, and Paul, all of Evanston: Mrs. Eula DeSpain , Lockport and Wilma at home. There are 17 grandchildren.
