Winland Cemetery

This cemetery was photographed and transcribed by Michael J. Von Goebel in the fall of 2006! All photos are donated by Michael and information in this color is supplied by Michael. This is another cemetery on the verge of being lost forever.  There are roughly 30-40 more people buried here than there are markers for. The ground is still humped after all these years where people were buried.  Has a very haunting quality about it.

A big thanks to Gerald Hutchcraft for taking me to this cemetery.  The building is the old school house where Gerald went to school.  Believe he called it the Winland School. It is a typical one room school house on the inside.  This cemetery is reached by traveling 6. 5 miles east of Fairfield on Il-15 turn right on CR 2500 E which turns into 2525 E go 1.1 miles on this road and the cemetery is 50 feet beyond the
intersection of 700 N and 2525 E on your right in a wooded area directly across from the Old One room Schoolhouse.
