George, John, Jacob and Samuel Borah, brothers, came to Wayne County from Kentucky in a very early day, and John settled in Jasper Township in 1821, his brother Samuel somewhat later. No family has exerted a greater influence for good, or contributed more to the Christian and moral stamina of the community than these noble men and their worthy descendants. Through their means were largely counteracted those baneful influences at work at the time of their arrival. They gave tone to the healthy sentiment that has so long prevailed in the community. A numerous offspring perpetuate their example by worthy lives and worthy deeds.
