I am trying a new format out for cemetery information. The information on this cemetery is not based on just headstone inscriptions but rather by state database records found on line as well as personal obituaries saved by my grandmother Hazel SMITH Lane, obituaries exchanged with other researchers, the Illinois State Historic Library, Legacy of Kin 1&2, Illustrated and Descriptive Sketch Book of Wayne Co., Il. (1903) as well as Betty Beeson and Doris Bland books.

The TREE LINK will take you to another page that has the family history and further information.

Death Certificate numbers were found in the Illinois Statewide Database http://www.cyberdriveillinois.com/GenealogyMWeb/idphdeathsrch.html

Although we have tried to be as accurate as possible in our research, mistakes happen, if you know of any corrections or additions to this family please contact me, thanks Laurie lselpien@msn.com

SUICIDE OF THOS. BULL

“Our neighborhood was startled by the report that Uncle Tommy Bull had committed suicide by cutting his throat from ear to ear. He was getting very old – Eighty –four or five years and at times would become very despondent. Last Thursday he left Mart Twadell’s and told Mrs. Twadell, his daughter, that he was going to cut his throat, but as he had made so many similar threats, no notice was taken of it until Friday evening, when his son, Ephraim, with whom he had been living, started to hunt him, but returned without success. On Saturday morning a general hunt was instituted and about 9:30 a.m. his body was found about a half mile east of the Dickey Church…… His remains were interred in the Bull grave yard, not far from where he was found.” Information From: Wayne county Illinois Death Notices and Obituaries 1880 – 1890 by Betty Beeson
