If you are heading south out of Fairfield on Rte 45 you will go to CR-200N and turn left (East) Atteberry is located
on a prairie hilltop North of CR-200N between CR-1990E & CR-2050E.
The cemetery is kept up.
The Atteberry name has several variant spellings used on the stones.
The cemetery is located on the land of Mike & Sharla Shreve, they operate Shreve's Pumpkin Patch.
During the Fall when pumpkins are in season please stop by their place. I spoke with Mr. Shreve, very nice man,
and doesn't mind people having access to the cemeteries, but as a courtesy it is always nice to stop by and let
the landowners know you are visiting a cemetery on their land. Also in the case of Atteberry Cem. Mr. Shreve saved
me a lot of grief by giving me directions, prepare for a hike to this one.
Note: There are 2 Atteberry Cemeteries in Wayne County, this is the Atteberry Cemetery in Barnhill Township
This cemetery was photographed and transcribed by
Michael J. Von Gebel Sep., 2007
It is displayed here with his permission given in March of 2010.
