land: Hansbrough Information from Jim Powell. "I was getting around to asking if you had seen this about your John HANSBRAUGH.
He was very clever, as he bought two "defective" 80 acres parcels, or 140.61 acres, for .12 1/2 cents per, or $17.58 total. "Defective" or meaning, small parcels due to correcting surveying errors, & also swamp land, or as my grandpa would say, "bottom land." After digging drainage ditches, it is some of the "best" land now. This land is now intersected by US 64 straight south of Wayne City near your "Trotter" cemetery, & probably the "Old Home Place."  C U later, Jim

Mar 29, 1839 in Tn. and died Mar 30, 1922 west of Dahlgren. His parents came to Pope Co. as a boy. In 1862 he came to Wayne Co., Married Matilda Standifer of Marion Co, 1861. 2 children both dead. His 2nd Marriage to Druscilla Hansbrough in 1873. Six children Martin, Cleve, Martha, Minnie are living two have died. 3rd marriage to Mary Jane Ray about 1890. She died and his 4th marriage to Matilda Easton, Two children. Etta and Edna  both at home. One sister Sarah Campbell of Mt. Vernon, Martin of Fairfield, Cleve and Minie Lewis both of Paxton. Martha Ray of Wayne City...Odd fellow Cemetery Dahlgren Il.".

He married Feb 5, 1880 in Wayne Co., Il. to Angiline Sarah Boswell daughter of John & Salina Maberry Boswell. She was born Dec 1873 – June 28, 1947 she is buried in the Olive Branch Cemetery.

P.S. (Park) Hansbraugh, 85, died at his home in Wayne City Thursday morning. Funeral services were conducted at Olive Branch church on Friday afternoon by Rev. George H. Hall. Burial was in the nearby cemetery. Mr. Hansbraugh was a member of the Olive Branch church. Surviving are a son, Bernard, of Paxton and a sister Mrs. Lucy Wayne, of Wayne City.  Note: should be Lucy Lane."

Mrs. Margaret Lucinda Lane, 86, died at her home south of Wayne City at 11:35 a. m. Sunday. She was the widow of Cloyd Lane, who died in 1941.
FUNERAL RITES TUESDAY
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Olive Branch church, with Rev. H. H. Mayberry officiating. Internment was in Garrison cemetery. The Richardson funeral home was in charge. She was born in Wayne County May 12, 1870, the daughter of John and Harriett Miller Hansbrough.

Wayne City, July 8__Cloyd Lane, a well known farmer, died suddenly of a heart attack at 4:30 p.m. yesterday at his home five miles south of Wayne City. Funeral services will be held at2p.m. Wednesday at Olive Branch church, conducted by the Rev. John Maulding of McLeansboro. Mr. Lane is survived by his widow; Lucy; four sons, Bert, Ernest and Clarence all of Wayne City and William  of East St. Louis; and two daughters, Mrs. Guy Shell and Mrs. Charles Stephenson of Wayne City.

CLOYD LANE, SOUTH OF WAYNE CITY, FALLS DEAD
Cloyd Lane, 75, well-known Orel township farmer, fell dead at his home five miles south of Wayne City. Coroner  C. C. Hill, of Fairfield, held an inquest at which the jury returned a verdict that death resulted from a heart attack __angina pectoris. Mr. Lane according to testimony given by his widow, had been in comparatively good health and had consulted a physician in over thirty years. He had been working in the field that afternoon, and he started to join her to assist with the milking he fell to the ground dead, she testified. Members of the inquest were Clifford H. Donoho, foreman, Perry Draper, H. C. McKinney, Tony Manring, Lemma Hood and Harry Scott." 1  PERI Wayne County Record
