Notes for MOSES BOND:

From his application for a pension for service in the Civil War, Moses Bond,

son of Mastin and Tabitha (Ward) Bond was born 27 July 1834, was 6 feet 2

inches tall with a fair complexion, brown hair and eyes and was a farmer. He

married first Mary Hale in Hamilton Co. 29 October 1851, she died the year after

their marriage. He married second in Hamilton Co. Nancy McTeer in 1857, five

children. Nancy died 19 December 1888. He married third  Frances Johnson in

Christian Co., Missouri 4 May 1891. No children by the first and third

wives. Moses died 18 August 1916 in McCrackin Twp., Christian Co., Missouri

Bond 26 Mar 1846 in Hamilton Co., IL, daughter of Mastin Bond and Tabitha Ward.  She was born 14 Jul 1831 in IL, and died 17 Nov 1880. Both Joshua and Nancy Haile are buried at Garrison Cem., Hamilton Co., IL

Dillard Hale in 1880 Four Mile Twp., Wayne, IL age 15 as laborer on farm of Wm. Mabery.

 

It has never been established exactly what happened to Joshua Dillard Haile. In 1910 a Joshua D. Hale is found living in Ingalls Twp., Gray Co., KS, where he works as a farmer given his age he was born abt 1866 in Illinois, mother born Tennessee. By 1920 we find J. D. Haile living in Seiling Twp., Dewey Co., OK as a farmer who is a widower.  He disappears after 1920. In 1920 he states he was born in Illinois about 1866, his father was born in Illinois and his mother born in Tennessee.

Mrs. Alice Hale Dies

 

Mrs. Alice Hale, widow of the late A. M. Hale for many years merchant in Petersburg, south of Wayne City, passed away at her home.  Sunday morning about Four o'clock she suffered a stroke of paralysis on July 4th and never regained consciousness.

 

Funeral Services were conducted at the Olive Branch Church.  Burial was in the church cemetery.  Mrs. Hale was about seventy one years old.

Mrs. Newton Williams of Wayne City, Dies

 

Mrs. Eliza Maude Williams, 83, a Wayne City woman, the widow of Rev. Newton A. Williams, died at 3:45 a.m. Sunday in the McLeansboro Hospital.  Mrs. Williams had been a patient in a McLeansboro nursing home for about three years.  She was well known in the Wayne City area.

 

Services Wednesday

 

Services will be conducted at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the First Baptist Church in Wayne City with burial to be in the Olive Branch Cemetery.

 

Friends may call at Richardson's Funeral Home in Wayne City after 6 p.m. Tuesday.

 

Mrs. Williams was born in Hamilton County on Sept. 4, 1893, the daughter of August and Alice (Hall) Haile.  She was married to Rev. Williams on Mar. 14, 1918.  He died several years ago.  Rev. Williams was a Baptist Minister. She was a housewife.

Wayne City Baptist Minister

Rev. N. A. Williams, 83, Expires

 

The Wayne City area lost one of its long time Baptist Ministers Friday at 10:55 a.m., when Rev. N. A. Williams, 83, died at Memorial Hospital.  His passing brought to an end an illness that had been extended over the past eight or nine years.  He was the victim of a series or paralytic strokes.

 

Rites Held

 

The remains were moved to Richardson's Funeral Home at Wayne City.  Final rites were held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Wayne City Baptist Church, with Rev. Oakley Miller and Rev. Joe Bob Pierce in charge.  Burial was in Olive Branch Cemetery.

 

Mr. Williams was born in Marion county Feb 14, 1889 the son of Newton Steve Williams and Mary Jane Newman Williams.  He was married to Maude Haile Mar 14,1 918.  He had spent his entire life in the ministry and for many years was an official of the Mt. Erie Baptist Association.

 

The Survivors

 

Surviving are his widow, three sons, Virgil of Freeport, Wilbur of LeCohn, Calif.; and Wayne of St. Charles; two daughters, Esther Pierce, of Elgin; and Eleanor McKinney, of Arlington Heights; 11 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; three brothers John Williams of Odin; Charley Williams, of Johnson City; and Sam Williams, of Atlanta, GA; and one sister, Mrs. Minnie Parker, of Sandoval.

8.  John Thomas3 Haile (Jeremiah B.2, Joshua1 Hale) was born 30 Jan 1869 in IL, and died 11 Jul 1942 in Wayne Co., IL8.  He married Sarah Melinda Dickey 24 Dec 1890 in Wayne Co., IL, daughter of David Dickey and Nancy Page.  She was born 11 Nov 1858 in Walker Co., GA, and died 29 Sep 1946 in Fairfield, Wayne Co., IL9.

John Thomas Haile Dies

 

John Thomas Haile, son of Jeremiah B. and America Haile, was born in Wayne County in 1869.  His parents having died when he was young, he was reared by his uncle, Lewis, and aunt, Mat Tucker.  When about 13 years of age he professed faith in Christ.  He departed this life July 11, 1942 at the age of 73 years, five months and 11 days.

 

He first united with the Arrington Prairie Baptist church, and died a member of the Wayne City Baptist church.  On December 24, 1890 he was united in marriage to Sarah M. Fenton.  To this union were born six children, Stella Gertrude and George proceeding him in death.  Surviving are Louis Augustus of Kirkland; Fred Thomas, of Wayne City; Nancy America Service of Elgin; and Sara Elizabeth Feather, of Keenes; one step son Ballard Fenton, 36 grandchildren ten great grandchildren, and seven step grandchildren.  Four brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

 

He was ordained to the ministry by the Valley Missionary Baptist church in Arkansas December 1, 1907.  He was active in this ministry for a number of years in Arkansas and Oklahoma before returning to Illinois.

Mrs. Haile Dies

 

Mrs. Sarah M. Haile, 88, widow of the late John Thomas Haile, Baptist Minister of Wayne City, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Robert Service, here Monday, September 30th.  The body was removed to Combs Funeral Home in Wayne City.

 

Funeral Services were conducted at the Wayne City Baptist church Tuesday afternoon by Elder H. H. Hooker.  Burial was in Dickeyville cemetery.

 

Mrs. Haile was a member of Keenes Baptist church.

 

Surviving are two daughters, Mrs. Service and Mrs.Eliza Feather, of Fairfield, and three sons Ballard Fenton, of Sims; Fred Haile of Keenes, and Augustus Haile, of Rockford.
