BROWN
George Brown, fifty years a resident of Fairfield, has celebrated his one hundredth birthday. Mr. Brown is the oldest man in Wayne county, and holds his years well. He is able to be on the streets every day. He came to this
country from Whitney, England, on a fishing smack, about fifty years ago.

OBSERVE GOLDEN WEDDING
Mr. and Mrs. John Close of Wayne City, celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary, Wednesday February the 25. Mr. Close was born of Irish parents in Philadelphia , Pa., February 28, 1855, and is seventy years old. Mrs. Close who prior to marriage was Martha Ellis, was born October 1, 1856 and is 68 years old. They were married at Johnsonville, Ill., February 25th 1875. They have four children as follows: Mrs. A. F. Morgan and Mrs. O. D. Herbert of Mt. Vernon, Robert Close of Fairfield and Chas. Close of Wayne City. Four children are dead. They have fourteen grandchildren, one of whom they raised, and three great grandchildren. Mr. Close is assistant postmaster at Wayne City and has been a Mason for forty-nine years. They were presented with a radio.
