Mr. John Yoho, a well-known and highly respected citizen of Jeffersonville, died quite suddenly last Monday morning ... [Wayne County Press, December 16, 1875]
Ewing Young, an aged and well known citizen of Wayne county passed away at his home in this city a few minutes before eleven o'clock last Friday morning. He was born Nov 15, 1820 and died 10:49 A.M., July 20, 1906.
He was nearly 86 years of age and all of his life had been spent in Wayne County. He was a son of John and Susan Young and was born in Lamard township, where he lived until about twelve years ago, when he moved to Fairfield and here he remained until the time of his departure.
December 16, 1840, he was united in marriage with Emily Craven, who died in January 1896. To this union ten children were born, three of whom died in infancy. The other children are still living and are as follows: H.J. Young, Mrs. Z.T. Hughes, Mrs. George H. Daisy, R.E. Young, Mrs. J.S. Baldwin, Mrs. B.F. Sons and Mrs. Emmer Green. All these children were at the bedside of their father when he passed away.
In October, 1896, he was married to Mrs. Elsie Powless, who survives him.
About fifty years ago he became a member of the M.E. Church, uniting with the congregation at Mt Olivet, where he retained his membership all his life. Mr. Young possessed reasonable good health until about three years ago, when he had a severe attack of illness and his health was never good afterward.
Funeral Services were held at Mt Olivet M.E. church at 10:30 O'clock Sunday morning conducted by Rev William Huntsberry, the pastor, assisted by Rev. R.D. Ellis, Interment at Bovee Cemetery. [Submitted By Marylea Gazette]
Enterprise -- We are sorry to report the death of Mr. Jacob Young, who died January 26th, 1897, after ten days' illness. Mr. Young was born April 14th, [*I believe the text states 1857, but it could be 1837*], in Huntington county, Indiana. He moved with his family to Enterprise, Ill., in 1890. He leaves a wife and three children. One child preceded him a year ago. Mr. Young was a good neighbor and citizen, and will be missed in our community.
