You will notice that the WILLS began with book C. There is no A or B books. Apparently they were destroyed during the fire. The earliest WILL was dated 10 March 1851 and was by Edward West. The next one was in 1852. These were the only ones in the 1850’s. You will find some in the 1860’s and 1870’s. There were several WILLS recorded by non-residents of Wayne County, Illinois. I did not include when WILLS were probated, just when they were written. The index is in alphabetical sequence not alphabetical order because of the page numbers.
