Open House Planned In YWCA Sunday, Dec. 20 (1964)
Mr. and Mrs. John L. Bushman will be the guests of honor at an open house from two to five o’clock Sunday Dec. 20, at the Sterling YWCA to celebrate their golden wedding anniversary.
John L. Bushman and Ellen Welker were married Dec. 23, 1914 by Judge Crabtree in Dixon.
Except for approximately two years in Sterling they have lived their entire married life in Rock Falls. For a number of years Mr. Bushman was engaged in farming with his father and brother south of Rock Falls. Prior to his retirement in 1962 he worked 33 years for Russell Burdsall and Ward Co. for many years he has been a volunteer fireman.
The Bushmans have two sons, Donald F. and John G., one daughter, Mrs. Lyle (Nellie) Williamson, a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Merle Bushman, 17 grandchildren and two great grandchildren. All reside in Rock Falls and will be at the affair except one grandson, Ralph, in the US Navy. Another son, Ralph, died in March 1961.
Friends and relatives are invited to join the couple on this occasion in the YWCA auditorium by using the north entrance on Fifth St. The affair is being planned by their children. Mr. and Mrs. Bushman ask that gifts be omitted.
