Lewis Brown was born in Dutchess county, New York, in 1779, and came to Portland in 1836, locating a farm on Washington street, on which his son Harry now lives. He died in 1876 at the ripe old age of ninety-five years. Mr. Brown married Miss Orilla Clark. Their children were.: Sarah B., now dead; and Harry who married Miss Julia Minchin, and after her death, Miss Anna Rurfis, and lives in Prophetstown.
