Amos Cady came to Lyndon from New York in 1837. His first wife was Miss Cynthia Smith, whom he married in New York State. The children were Henry, John, Sarah, Leonard, Lemuel, Alonzo, and Amos, Jr. Mrs. Cady died and Mr. Cady married Miss Charity Crippen. The children by this marriage were: William, George R., Eliza, Cynthia, Orlando, Elsie, Adelbert, and who died in infancy. George R. married Miss Nettie V. Parshall: children. Walter D., Alice E., Zella M., Lelia I. and be Witt R. Orlando lives with George R. Amos, Jr., married Miss Lucretia Haskins: Children: Martha, George, Adelbert A. is a telegraph operator, and lives in Chicago. The remainder are in the West.

Mr. Cady was constable and deputy sheriff a number of years, he was a very efficient officer, and was always detailed by the Court to do such service as required energy and pluck.
