Elias Hutchinson was born in Bucks county, Pennsylvania, in 1816, and came first to Illinois in 1837, settling at Alton, where he remained until 1839, when he came to Prophetstown. During the earlier years of his residence in Prophetstown he worked at his trade of carpenter and cabinetmaker to which he had been brought up in his native State, and afterwards became a farmer, He is now engaged in the furniture trade in the village. Mr. Hutchinson married Miss Mary Crary, in 1839. Their children have been: Augusta and Frederick, living in Prophetstown, and three who died in infancy.
