After 112 years, and a seemingly "Mission Impossible,"
Ms. Marilyn Huffman-Anderson, Genealogist and History Librarian at the
Sterling, IL Public Library, joined in "The Thrill of the Hunt," and somehow located the newspaper clipping of my great grandfather's obituary. It told of his burial in Heaton Cemetery
in Mt. Pleasant twp; following which, Ms. Anderson found a very special lady, Ms. Jane Paschal James, Sexton of Heaton Cemetery,
who using the cemetery plot map, showed us the exact location of the graves of Martin and Maria Kelly in lot #13.
With special thanks to Mr. John Gragert, artist of Moore Midwest Monument in Sterling, these pioneers, who loved God, their family and their farm in Whiteside County,
are now remembered.
John W. Kelly
