She was born Abt. 1850 in Elmyra, Chemung Co., New York and died June 17, 1878 in Como, Whiteside Co., Illinois. He married (2) SAMANTHA June 12, 1879 in Morrison, Whiteside Co., Illinois daughter of TIMOTHY LIVINGS and ABIGAIL WARNER. She was born Abt. 1848 in Southport Township, Chemung Co., New York, and died September 20, 1924 in Amboy, Lee Co., Illinois GUSTAVUS DAVIS SHERMAN enlisted as a Private in Company D, 75th Infantry Regiment, Illinois on the Union side on September 2, 1862 and mustered out on June 12, 1865. He fought in Kentucky, Georgia and Tennessee.

Notes for SAMANTHA LIVINGS:
Southport birth record shows a child born January 4, 1848. This could be her birthdate. Since the census of 1850 said she was one year old on October 4, 1850, I don't believe the January 4, 1848 date is correct, nor is the one shown. She was probably born during 1849. The "Family Data Collection - Births" says she was born in 1848. The 1870 census said she was 21, so I have changed her birthdate from July 10, 1852 (from the family file of JoAnn Kaufman) to Abt. 1848. The 1900 census said she was born in 1860, but that can't be correct.

He was born November 13, 1885 in Holland, and died February 1966. At the time he filed his World War I Draft Registration card (Sept. 12, 1918) Joe Koenes was living in Teton Co., Montana and he was working as a farmer. He had blue eyes and brown hair. He was not a citizen of the U. S. His date of birth came from his World War I Draft Registration card. If I have the correct person, then his date of death is also correct since his birth date matches up. However, I also found a Joe Hns Koenes who died in Los Angeles November 29 1940. It was stated on the California Death Index that this Joe was born outside the United States. His SSN was 569-05-9022.
