They have a new mayor out in Odessa., Wash. the fact is of interest here in that the said mayor is no one but Charles T. Deets, formerly of this city and a native of Emerson. some twelve years ago Charlie decided that his star of destiny was in the great west and followed it there, almost to the jumping off place. Since then he has been busy growing up with the country and has come to prominence in his community in that he is the cashier of the First National bank of Odessa as well as its mayor. In the current issue of the Odessa Record there is an excellent picture of Mayor Deets and a kindly notice of his achievement with expressions of satisfaction that so good a man is at the helm of affairs in that town. The Harry Reed farm located three-fourth of a mile north of Emerson was purchased yesterday by Charles Deets of Emerson. The farm consists of 120 acres of land in a fertile state, but the buildings require some attention. The farm was purchased for $150 per acre, the total amount paid being $18,000. Mr. Deets will make the farm his home. The price is considered fair considering the present state of the farm buildings. The farm is located about seven miles northwest of this city and on the main road between Emerson and Coleta. (Contributed by Larry Reynolds)
