John Peugh, a well-known farmer of Genesee, was Thursday [09/12/1901] afternoon in Judge Ward’s court adjudged insane. The trial was before a jury made up as follows: Messrs. J. R. Bell, Dr. Frank Anthony, Benjamin W. Doty, John Gleason, L. Oltmans, William Manahan. George W. Howe of Morrison came to clerk the trial. Sheriff A. K. Haberer was also in attendance. The defendant was ordered to be taken to the asylum at Watertown, and Sheriff Haberer took him there Thursday evening. Mr. Peugh is a wealthy man, and a conservator will soon be appointed by Judge Ward. (Contributed by Larry Reynolds)
